    Pacemaker lead dislodged during surgery.

i everyone, I have another question. After my first surgery I needed a pacemaker and had a dual lead Medtronic inserted for heart block. This means there is a lead going into the ventricle and atrium. After my recent surgery they tested my pacemaker and it showed the atrium lead needed more...

    Chest Binder

Hello, I sent an email to my surgeon's office asking about what I think is bone noise from my ribs/ chest area. I see there are other discussions about this, and generally there is no concern as it is normal for bone movement after surgery. However, it was suggested I look into a chest binder...

    Can we be blood donors?

Hello, I inquired about donating blood to Canadian Blood Services, and was told by a nurse on the phone that I was no longer eligible. I asked why, and she said anyone who has had heart surgery is disqualified. She said donating blood puts strain on the heart, and that was the reason. During my...

    Baby boy names........Graydon vs Grayson

This is not heart/ valve related, but nonetheless is causing a bit of stress in our lives..... We have a 2 year old boy named Logan and are expecting again in 3 weeks. We don't know the sex, but if it's a boy we are stuck between Graydon and Grayson. Our last name is Gough (Goff) if that helps...

    Non-invasive CT angiogram

My last echo showed some area of my heart was not getting the same amount of blood as other areas, so my cardio wanted me to have a PET scan/test at the local hospital. He then called back and said I was heading back to the Ottawa Heart Institute for a non-invasive CT angiogram. I had this test...

My 1 Year valve sparing aortic root replacement surgery anniversary!

It's hard to believe that it has been exactly one year since my surgery. There have been many ups and downs, but day by day I am getting back to normal. Exercise is still challenging, but day to day living is usually pretty good. If I push it too hard, it still takes a day or two to feel better...
