Shooting high powered riffles after valve replacement

I am over 3 year post op, and have my eye on a 7.62/.308 riffle. I shoot an AR15 all the time, but it doesn't kick much. If we have any sportsman here, do you have any idea of how firing a high powered riffle would affect a mechanical valve?

Gray area in vision, anyone else

I looked at old threads on vision, but none seemed to touch on gray areas in vision. The ones I have are every now and then, a few times a month for several minutes. It look like there is gray sludge on the windshield that moves when I look around. It slowly fades away in a few minutes. I...

Added benefit of valve replacemen,,,,, or not??

Ok, odd topic here but I know I'm not crazy. Before my surgery two years ago I had a bad case of IBS (aka - the trotts, trouser chilli, screaming eagles, anal oil derik) slowly getting worse over the last decade. It was so bad I never flew in the morning because I knew I would be on the can...

    Question for Coreg users

I was on 25mg of coreg twice per day before my MV replacement two years ago. I remained on the drug after to continue treatment of my cardiomyopathy. I was finding the drug gave me some drops in energy after taking it so they converted me to the 80mg time release taken at night. This seems to...

Coreg CR, better than Coreg or not???

I may try the Coreg CR (time release version) over the cheaper generic. It seems I get a bit light headed a couple hours after I take my pills in the morning. Has anyone tried to switch over, and has it helped even things out? I see no evidence it helps the heart any more than the...

Question about Other surgery and going off blood thinners

I have not posted in a while, so I hope you don’t hold that against me. I am just over a year of having my mitral valve replaced with a St Jude mechanical. Aside from still having the underlying cardiomyopathy I am doing very well. I would like to get some elective plastic surgery to clean...

Swollen Man Boob on incision side - what gives

Well, I had the minimally invasive surgery with the incision on the right side, and now 8 months after surgers I have a bit of a man boob. I kept thinking the swelling would go down, but it does not. :mad2: Aside from my reluctance to go to a pool shirtless, my newborn keeps giving me the...

    Vasectomy and heart problems

Here is a topic you don't see here every day.:biggrin2: Non-the-less, I would like to pull from whatever knowledge may be here on the topic. I see much information that suggests this procedure has no significant long term risk. Other articles suggest there is an inherent danger of the immune...

Anyone ever get Vertogo or double vision

I had a mitral valve replacement last May, and then went on amioderone three weeks out for afib. The next day I got this very strange temporary vertigo, where my vision was distorted, and I was seeing double at times. It last between two to five minutes. This has happened since then about...

Health Care reforms 1st phase USA

The first phase of the health care reforms kick in today. The one that interest me the most is: NO LIFETIME MAXIMUM!! The parts that deal with dependant kids until 26, and no excluding a childs pre-exisiting conditions seem great also. I am a hard core conservative, but I think these things...

Off Amioderone this week, fingers crossed

Now that I have the ICD in place, I was told to stop the amioderone, and bump up my coreg to pre surgery dosages of 25mgs twice. I also talked my cardio into giving me a prescription for prescription fish oil. There is a trial here at Vandy testing high dosages of pure fish oil to see if it...

BNP - Another test to stress over

The first BNP test I had was almost a year ago, and it was 331. After they got the water off, the next test two months later was 279. This past may I knew the valve was leaking more and the number jumped to the 800s. My first BNP post opp was three weeks ago, it was down to 175. They say...
