Question about post mitral valve repair and still having regurgitation...

tsanjose - I had/have trace regurgitation after my surgery. It's actually quite normal as most with even healthy valves have trace regurgitation and never know. If you're closer to mild, depending on your age, you may need one more surgery down the line, but that would be in like 20+ years...

mitral valve REPAIR patients role call...

I had MVR done the old fashion way about 2.5 years ago, and I'm doing great! No Cardiac rehab, and no issues to date. I have a 38mm Edwards ring - model 5200. I've been very careful in preventing Endocarditis. Use listerine twice a day and always take antibiotics before dental appts.

Mitral valve repair ---->OHS vs Davinci

Thought this was an interesting thread I started a while back. I ended up going the OHS route, and have no regrets. My scar (5 inches) is much smaller than I thought it would be. I have learned a lot about the different techniques, and found advantages for both. OHS: - easier and faster...

    Fear

It is easy to fear the unknown. You need to confront it head on, bc truth be told, you've never felt this alive in your entire life. Embrace this challenge.

    Metoprolol. 50mg

I was on 25mg of Atenolol 5 months b4 surgery. After OHS, I didn't need to take any meds aside from protonics to help stop potential stomach alcers! The reason I'm off the BB's is because my bp is on the low side (95/65). So, if you're BP is low like mine was, you won't need BB's. You may...

Post Surgery: High Pulse - low BP

Anyone experience this post surgery? My pulse is 89 when sleeping, 99 resting, and 115-130 when standing/walking. My BP has been steady at 90/60. I'm concerned with my pulse when standing. I've never had Afib, and would like to avoid it. The won't put me on BB due to my low BP. Is this...

    Abdominal muscles after surgery

Strong abs are definitely useful! For me, the biggest advantage you'll have in the healing process, is getting off the Pain killers completely asap.

    Happy Thanks giving!!

Well that was a trip! The good: 1) Mitral valve successfully repaired. In fact, surgery was short, as I ended up only having a huge posterior leaflet. Once the posterior was worked on to line up, the anterior did not have prolapse at all. So, to those of you with bileaflet prolapse, you may...

    Robotic MVR on 11/22

That is terrible to hear :(. I'd be interested to learn what exactly caused the failure. How were your echo's immediately following your surgery?

    Robotic MVR on 11/22

Hey Trudy, I'm also having bileaflet mvr, but via OHS, tomorrow:eek2:. I don't want to scare you, but I thought it would be a disservice to not let you know about my experience. I live in Atlanta and originally wanted to go with the robotic approach for obvious reasons. However, my cardio...
