Niki:

How wonderful ... hope everything goes well.

A friend was surrogate mother for her own sister's babies -- twin girls. When she told me about her experience, I had newfound respect for her.

And, I suppose I'm safe ... I don't think any of you have really met her............

BUT ... when we are given the OK/go ahead to tell others, I will start a new post ... because the way she and her hubby told us was ... simply awesome!!!!!!!

Too cool! I can't wait to hear/read the story!

Speaking of... Last night I got a call from my college roommate... She's PREGNANT!!!! :D :D :D The coolest part is that now that we've moved, we're only 5 minutes apart! Our kids (God willing) are going to grow up together!!! :D I'm so excited for her!

Earline ... imagine how much I want to TELL it :). he he.

LOL! That's awesome, Niki! I know my sis and her hubby have been wanting to start a family because most of their friends already have kids ... and they want them to grow up together, relatively closely, anyway.....

*sighs*

Meanwhile, all my kids have kids that make me feel freekin' old. Thus, my distinct pleasure in corrupting each and every one of them!

*grins devilishly*

And, uh, Niki, I either royally missed or forgot something ... where did you move to?

I didn't move far. Still in the DFW metroplex (about 20-30 minutes from my old place). Just moved into our very first home-of-our-own! :D We moved in September.

Don't worry. You will still see me on your sweeps through Texas. ;) :D

LOL!

Good! See, here I thought your dear husband had "orchestrated" this move ... just so I wouldn't have a chance to corrupt your kid..... he he he.

*pauses*

Course, he also ought to know by now that that will NOT work ;).

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Anyone interested in an update? I didn't know if I should start a new thread or just keep it in this one... I figured this way the people who expressed an interest before would get a notice that something new was posted. ;)

Anyway, we've been making some progress on the surrogacy front. I had a consultation with an RE (reproductive endocrinologist) in April and he expressed concern that I may not have much in the way of eggs because of the MANY times I've had to undergo anesthesia for surgery. So he had me come off of my birth control and when I had my first "unmedicated" period I went in for blood work and a sonogram. Now I'm taking clomid for 5 days and will go in for repeat blood work and sonogram on Monday. I'm pretty confident everything will be fine, but it's still a bit nerve wracking.

Once we get the results back from Monday we'll start setting up appointments for Nathan to get his testing done and for our surrogate to do the same. It's looking very possible that we'll be heading towards an IVF transfer in September/October! I'm so excited. :D

Also, if anyone is interested in reading about our "journey" as it unfolds, I have a blog that I started nearly a year ago. I've just recently started sharing it with people. It's www.heartjourney.wordpress.com

please leave your messages in this thread so those who don't know can go to your first post and get the whole story.

I was so excited to get some new news on your life change! Can't wait to see how it all progresses. You know that we always want to know about our upcoming grands, nieces, nephews...........

Blessins............

Thanks, everyone, for the continued support. I have to agree that medical technology is wonderful! I wouldn't be here without it (nor would most of us)! ;)

Honestly, I have frequently cried over the fact that I cannot carry my own child or experience pregnancy. However, I've come to realize that even though I will miss out on THOSE experiences, I'm getting one that is just as good or better. I'm becoming great friends with a woman I wouldn't have otherwise met. I'm getting closer in my relationship with God. And I now know in my heart that I WILL be a mom. How I get there doesn't matter. :D

Absolutely Niki...and a fabulous mom you will be!:) Your son/daughter will know exactly how wanted they are and that is doubly special!!! Please keep us posted! Deb
