hi nancy,
just returned from taking our daughter back to school in st. louis and am so upset to hear of joe's brain bleed and renal failure.

please know that you are both in our thoughts and prayers (big time!).

thanks so much for keeping us posted.
wishing you both all the best,
sylvia

Nancy,
So sorry to hear of the bleeding and kidney problems. From everything you've posted in the past, it seems like Joe is a real fighter. Hopefully, these latest setbacks will just be another in the long list of things he's overcome in recent years. I'll keep praying for you both! Kate

Hi Nancy, so sorry to hear the latest news about Joe. I know it is terribly scary to be off of an anticoagulant.....but it is equally scary to have a brain bleed....no real good answer here, just a balancing act. I hope that dialysis will give his kidneys a chance to rest and recuperate, and as Betty said, maybe they can use different/better meds?

So many folks are thinking of you both, and add me to that list!

I am so sad to hear that Joe is in renal failure. Maybe they can fix that. They got my brother out of it. I hope you are getting some rest when you can. Hugs to you both.

He got his ports in and had 2 hours of dialysis. He did very well with it. He'll have it daily for a couple of days, then every other day. Everyone was so worried that he wouldn't do well. They were afraid his bloodpressure would tank. But his renal doctor got creative. He needed 2 units of blood, so she had them give it while he was on dialysis to help keep his pressure up. It worked.

I knew they could get their thinking caps on.

And he had a CATscan, and there is no additional bleeding.

And he has stopped coughing up blood from the pneumonia.

So a few positive things happening.

So glad things are going well tonight and wishing you both a good night and an even better tomorrow, Nancy!

Glad to read of his positive steps forward.

AMEN to that!

It's a shame that patients have to 'reach the brink' before they seem to be taken seriously. There's got to be a better way to get their attention UP FRONT.

Any Ideas from the group?

We're heading out first thing in the morning for my sister's lake house in East Texas... I'm taking my laptop with me so I can check on Joe's progress.

Nancy, Just want you to know....

That I am thinking of you and Joe everyday and praying Extremely hard that you both get through this latest battle that Joe is dealing with....I think that there is nothing better in this world than the courage and strength that a spouse has when dealing with their husband or wifes illness, and you have certainly shown your courage and strength MANY times over. Keeping you in my heart/thoughts and prayers as always. Harrybaby:D :D :D :D

Nancy,

I was sorry to read about Joe's latest complications! The fact that things seem to be moving forward in a positive way for him, is a good sign. We know Joe is a fighter and you are a strong loving wife. He has been through so much!

I know that you're being by his side and making sure the doctor, nurses and staff do what they are suppose to be doing, gives Joe the comfort. peace and strength to fight for his life! I hope you've managed to get some rest. I will keep Joe and you in my thoughts and prayers. Godspeed!

Hi Nancy

Just checking in to see how Joe is doing. Soooo glad things have stopped in the brain department....hopefully the dialysis is just a temporary thing.

I'm hoping to check in this week as we're going to Maine and won't be communicado.....if I can't get to you, I'll have my cousin check in and she can report back to me.

Please know that you're both in my thoughts and prayers.

Evelyn
