The whle weekend,i'm having some strange bruises taking place:confused:
My inr is very normal at 3.1 and seems i open a door to a building
my whole inside of my hand bruises, just black and stays there, any thing i
bump or accidently bump alittle, top of my hands, peel potatoes, then i'm
having a imprint of where i held the knife so long to peel????????????????
i know i've had a hard time with second surgery and drug relation, but this
is crazy, any ideas, any comments would be helpful, starting to scare me
abit.Started doing this friday afternoon, not better yet and i'm starting to
get concerned with the bruises as to why? they are everywhere, big, small
not going to emergency as of yet,but will go see my Doc in morning.
No pain or any other thing i can tell you about.Warfarin is always at 4
x2 5's =3o mg weekly........Should i worry about this??

Deb .... I have had bruises on my palms and finger tips sometimes ... not sure how I get them and they hurt a bit ..... and I like you was in range when it happened .... just one more damn thing to wonder about:rolleyes:

Thanks Cooker i'm not too worried, but even the press
of washcloth on my face is causing bruises, look like
i've been to a wrestling match or some scrappin fight:eek:
If i indent top of my hand a bruise is evident there right away.

It never hurts to follow up with the doctor. Two good questions are;

If you do your own INR is your machine calibrated correctly, or have you dropped it?

If you have it done in the office when was the last time?

It is not unusual to call your doctors office just to check in. They will tell you what to do.

Best wishes!!

I'd check it out too. That much bruising is not normal with an in-range INR. You may have something else going on.

Deb, I have strange bruising all the time. I probally run up against something and don't even know it. It comes and go's when my INR is a little out of wack. If it bothers you and they are'nt going away before you get more I would probally mention it to your dr. My hands get pretty bad and hurt also. Let me know what your dr says, mine acted like it was pretty normal.
Plus I've heard your skin thins out when on warfarin, I don't know if thats true but it would explain some of the quick bruising. You might mention that to your dr too. I'm going to mention it to mine next visit and see what he says.
Ive had them check my blood also and everything was fine.
Good Luck.:)

If your Primary Care Physician or Cardio has an on-call person available today (Sunday), I would be tempted to call in, tell them what is going on, and ask for their recommendation.

For Sure, I would want to SEE a Doctor Monday Morning at the latest to get an explanation for what you are seeing.

Have your platelets checked out. Complete bloodwork.

Nanc, had all this checked out couple weeks ago and only
thing was my liver blood tests are bit high, could be my
amiodarone drug but no concern yet about this.
Last inr was Tuesday last week showed 3.3 and did one sat
cus of all bruising it was also in range 3.0 ,haven't dropped my
machine yet (thank God) and just tested machine on Chelsey
my daughter,its working fine.
Got my supper ready here and after draining pot of hot potatoes
in colinder all my fingers are bruised from any stress of holding pot
to empty water and this makes no sence, why i'd bruise from just
pressuring the use of different areas of myself.
Went out just pushed car door lightly to close and inside fingers
from push of door are bruised, don't seem to need apply much pressure.
i will call my Doc in morning and tell him whats happening.
Thanks everyone ,ive bruised before in past and it hurt, but not so
as to have constant bruising, and 16 yrs on warfarin i've not seen it
do this to me .....EVER.I agree with Karylynn somethings wrong.

Whenever Joe had strange bruising, it was his low platelet counts. That's why I mentioned it.

My SIL and Niece also bruise badly when their platelets are low. My SIL was actually diagnosed with her auto immune disease because my Mom told her to go to the doctor because they live in a small town and people were starting to whisper my Brother must be beating her since she was always really bruised.
PS I hope you get some answers and it is something nice nd easy.

So, how/what does one do if their platelets are low? Is called auto immune disease? How can this happen?

I know lots of questions and my ignorance is showing.

Joe was anemic and often had low platelets along with that. His was a little different than what Lyn was talking about.
