Hello to all, this is Roberts wife and I wanted to give an update on todays events.
He did well thru the night, then this morning as he went to sit down something happened. He immediately had a lump in the groin, right above the cath entry site. The lump was comparible to the size of an orange, he was in horrific pain regardless of the changed position. Dr said get him to hospital immediately to have it scanned, so he loaded up and we rushed to hospital over 50 miles away.
After arrival, check in, waiting, morphine, more morphine, waiting and FINALLY the extremely painful but much needed ultrasound, the lump seemed smaller, maybe tennis ball size. Eventually we recieved a visit from one of his drs with the results, his angio seal had broken loose. The hemotoma developed immediately after, creating the pool of blood well beneath the skin, and thankfully his body was able to form a clot big enough to seal the artery quickly. His blood cell count looks really good as compared to yesterday and he will have it tested again on Monday.
Doctors say it was "luck of the draw", of the hundreds they do in a month, 2 or 3 will have this experience. (Not a result of anything he did or didn't do.) So now we are back home, he is on strick bed rest for the next 4-5 days, in hopes that the artery will heal properly with no seal. He sees the dr on Thursday to follow-up on this.
He has promised to stay in bed (without the restraints) if I will catch him up and read him all of your posts.... I can comply although the tie-downs are ready, lol
Thanks for all of your prayers & support ~ Chansi
