I guess men pick out things like tools that they would like to receive. I don't think they are just dim lightbulbs :D

I truly think they look at these gifts as terrific ideas.

Not too many men know their way around the perfume counter, or handbag department. :)

Okay.....I am the exception!
About 4 years ago my hubby gave me a superb Mothers Day gift.....A COMPOUND MITRE SAW.
And yes, I was thrilled.
When his parents asked us what we would like for a housewarming gift.....I replied "Circular Saw". It's a beauty too.
(I was the boy in the family) :)

Nancy that gave me a good laugh.:D I can relate to that one. I told my hubby not to buy me anything for the kitchen this year. :rolleyes:So we will see what happens with that one!!! :D

Hey Crystal, maybe you will get a lawn mower!

Too funny you guys!

Another time, he gave me a garden spade too & like you, I was very happy with it! I grew up with all boys in the family so I too was a "tom-boy"! :p:)

I've been hounding him about getting me a little mower that will attach to my ATV so that I could trim down the grass & weeds in our pecan orchard, so we'll see......:)

Joe once gave me fishing waders for my birthday. But I requested them. I have a small pond that I have to clean every year, and really needed the waders to get into the icky water. :)

hummmm..... have you noticed gals that none of our VR men have had any input to this thread????

I wonder if they're not scrambling to their nearest Lowe's or Home Depot to get their DW's gifts exchanged! LOL!!!
:D:):p

Happy Healthy Holidays and New Year to all!

Happy Healthy Holidays and New Year to all!

Hi everyone!
It's been a long time since I've been here but I want to take a moment to wish everyone here a fantastic happy healthy holiday season.
I will be celebrating my anniversary of my aortic valve replacement Dec. 21st. It's been two years. Very thankful and blessed to be here!
By the way Cooker...love the Santa Monkey icon!
And to Sara L...hope this finds you doing well.

Norma, I agree with you. They may not have found this thread as funny or as true as we do.

At the same time, Gals, I wonder if we failed somewhere while we were raising those as young boys...we solved their problems as kids...we wiped their fears and tears, we hugged them when they had nightmares...we praised them when they did good things and/or brought good grades... We did everything for them. Maybe they gave the right gifts to girlfriends while growing up, but what happened when they got married?!

Maybe one wise guy might answer us on behalf of other men;)

I am not trying to be synical or offend our lovely masculin members! We are trying to figure out what is wrong with personal gifts?! My hubby is a sweetheart, and I love him dearly...he is my big gift, especially around my surgery time. I give him many hints throughout the year and close to the Holidays, YET, it does not work:D:D

Nancy, thanks for sharing.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE. May this blessed season brings joy and peace and blessings to all of us.

Eva : " I give him many hints throughout the year and close to the Holidays, YET, it does not work ..."

there's your problem, they don't know about hints, it's fruing pans on the head they need !!!!!

I'm with you on that one - I got my very own Dremel a few years ago, and loved it! I bought DH a table saw for his b'day one year, and I just love it, too.

After DH and I started going out together, the first b'day present he bought me was silverware - the really, really cheap stuff that you get at WalMart, and he was like a kid in a candy store - he can never wait, just has to give you it, he is so excited ..... but for my 50th birthday, he designed and had made a birthstone ring for me - 5 emeralds, one for each of my decades. He really is a sweetheart!

Nancy, I did laugh! I haven't had much cash to spend on gifts, but one x girlfriend (dated on and off for over 20 years) Always gave me things like sheets, towels, clothes... I gave her what I thought was really nice silver jewelery, and some pearls. During our last reunion I asked if she still had a pair of earrings I'd had made for her? She said no, she'd sold all that! We didn't have a nasty break up, so I'd thought she would keep them as happy reminders. She did keep the pearls as far as I know. I was very happy with her gifts. Still have a bathrobe she got me when I had my surgery! I find getting gifts hard for anyone these days. Still like the movie though! Thanks, Brian

Too hilarious nancy!!!!!

Too hilarious nancy!!!!!

The closest i came was water hoses at mothers day....but i needed

them anyhow and was content. But do you ladies notice when our

men dated us ,the gifts were much more appreciated:eek::eek:

woops thats the wrong word!!! I guess they spent more time looking

for an appropriate gift and wouldn't of dared turn into Oscar in the

video:p:eek: :D

There is at least one VR member who knows how to buy for his DW for Christmas. He gave his DW 2 Diamond rings last year for Christmas; only because he couldn't make up his mind which one to give to her.

Talk about a thoughtful guy.
