Welcome Home Ross ~ I'm glad it's over and you're on the road to recovery. Like the others said, it was an honor to help you have the surgery. You do so much for all of us by administering this site and by being the good person you are! Take it easy and rest all you need to and i hope you find some foods you like that you can eat. God bless, Dawn-Marie

Pamela, I just LOVE those baby foods.....I buy the pureed fruits. GREAT stuff.
I eat potatoes almost every day, throw one in the microwave. And have scrambled eggs with it, that would be filling.
Binge on cheese cake!

Hello All

Sorry you had to go through so much discomfort and pain, but you are still here to tell about it and perhaps as usual help others. Hope you find the right combination of foods and techniques to get it down so you can be strong to get through this phase of it. Blessings to you.

Carla.

Welcome back Ross....I know you've been through the ringer on this one, just be glad its done and behind you now brother... As far as food goes, how about Spagettios ? mac and cheese ? mashed potatoes ? I know none of those are good for you but I think you've earned a few days of comfort food. And at least they are all warm and are NOT baby food ! I can't believe some of you folks eat can eat that stuff !!:confused:

Tomato sauce acidity hurts right now, so I kind of stay away from it. I've had ravioli, potatos, puree tv turkey diner, soups, jello, puddings. Guess I'll be expanding my list things not yet tried by man. Maybe things will be a bit different once the holes are healed, but right now, it's ouchy ouchy.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back into action. This one shook me up pretty good. Not only did I have a hard time coming off the vent, but the infections were well on their way to exterminating me. Doc said one more week and I may not have been around to have them removed. You all know how hard I was pushing and how concerned I was about it and feeling like I was the only one worrying. Well it's taken one heck of an emotional toll on me. I need some time to gather myself together again. Just little things anymore turn into major events for me and frankly, I'm very tired of it all. Yes I know, never give up, but man, fighting is really becoming exhausting and I just don't have much left.

I look like someone punched me out. black and blue face, cut lips, seeping blood like a dog that lost a fight, but it's done and I'll never have to worry about tooth infections ever again. Just got my INR back to 2.3 and stopped Lovenox as of this morning. The whole anticoag thing in the hospital was a joke. It's not the drug that's dangerous, it's the people that don't know what their doing that make it dangerous.

You folks really did save my life. I want you all to know it. I owe it all to you and I'll never be able to repay you for this gift, that hurts me in itself. Seems like I should be able to do something other then simply exist.

I've got PM's, email and all sorts of things to answer and it's goin to take a while. I still need a bit of time to clear my mind of all that's just transpired. It was way too close all the way around.

Thank you all!

I vote we don't do this dangerous stuff anymore, ok? let's go for a broken fingernail!:p

love that you made it through. again.

Ross, I am so glad to hear that you are back! I am just a newbie, but I have really benefited from the knowledge and insight that you've shared in the forums. All the best to you as you recover from this experience.

Good to see you home and hungry...the alternative was not something I wished to consider.

Once that bloody taste goes away you should be able to enjoy a better variety of mushed-up foods. The hard part is over now mister...this healing the holes and living off mush is easy-peasy compared to Thursdays event.

Take your drugs and I hope you get some well earned sleep buddy.

much love & hugs

Ross...you shouldn't hurt about that because you do not need to repay the gift...because it is a gift. Just as you are...a gift. Period. End of discussion! :)

It is VERY good to see you posting again. Thoughts/prayers continue coming your way, of course.

Hi Ross. I hope that each day (each hour, for that matter) brings you closer to your old self and that you are feeling stronger and just plain better! What an ordeal. Good thing you are such a tough old buzzard.

Please keep looking for that silver lining around you.... fill your lows with some memories of some highs you've experienced in your life. You will get through this, too!!

We love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to see you back posting Ross, but sorry you're doing it so tough at the moment. Those liquid diets really are the pits :(

When I had my wisdom teeth out I found good hearty cream of vegetable soups were wonderful and I was able to play around with flavours (celery, spinach, carrot, spud... or everything combined). I was also able to blend it up with chickpeas and kidney beans to make them more filling and to get a protein hit.

For sweet stuff, the fruit smoothies were great - although if you're having issues with the acid, might be best to stick to things like bananas with yoghurt, honey and cinnamon (all very good for you!). I also loved a good choc mousse... but tried to keep that as a treat

Anyhoo, hope things start feeling and tasting better soon.

A : )

Hi there Ross, good to see you kinda sorta posting. Hang tough Bud, your sliver lining is just starting to peak through.

Have you tried meatballs and dumplings? The dumplings would be soft and you can take your fork and smash the meatballs into little mouse size bits with your fork. Just a thought :) and there is no acid.

Now lets start thinking positive and worry about the future when it comes, so for now lets take one day at time and heal.

(((((((((hugs)))))))))))

Ross - You're back, and that is all the repayment any of us around here could ask. You have been such an important part of my personal experience here at vr.com, and I am just very happy to have you back among us.

Rest, get well, then let's cause some trouble and have some fun!

Hang in there brother, just rest and get well.

Believe me Tom that's exactly what i'm doing. I'm also listening to all the food suggestions because really, there is no limit on what can be made, it's just making it. Think I'll have to invest in a food processor. Got an old Waring Blender but the motor sounds like it's going to fly apart at anytime. This thing is ancient.
