Bob ~ I'm glad that everything went fine...i hope you have a quick recovery!

So glad you did well Super Bob!!! How long are they going to keep you in there?
Maybe those nurses will want to fly around the hospital with you a few times.:D
Hope that everything will continue to go great. Be careful of the night shift nurses they can keep you up all night.

actually it was out patient surgery and I am home never thought I would say this ut wish I was still there the stuff the doc shot in the knee is wearing off and pain pills aren't helping much hurting like crazy just a quick whine from the so-called superhero.. Marie is right -- if the nurses were here they wouldn't look nearly as cute with the pain stuff wearing off

I can verify that, too. Sometimes, the nurses aren't so good lookin' after the drugs have worn off.

HOWEVER...I had two nurses at Chicago's CMH in 2003 that ... yeah, I wish I was there for ANYTHING but surgery or medical issues ;). he he

Bob...glad to know you are home and recovering...thoughts/prayers continuing.....

Oh, Superbob, I didn't even realize you were having surgery until after it was all over! :( I'm glad all went well and you're recovering at home. Though I'm very sorry that you're in pain. We can whine together... How come the pain meds (the exact same ones, mind you) worked better at the hospital than they are here at home?

Thanks again for all the kind thoughts and prayers. They really really have helped. Went through this with them in my consciousness. Being able to give a little whine last night when the hospital stuff wore off helped too. Surprisingly the hydrocodone they prescribed me to take at home did seem to help. One before bed and one in middle of night got me thorough pretty well. Couldn't sleep on my side or tummy, but actually managed to sleep pretty well on my back with a pillow under my knee.

I think at the hospital they put some kind of happy juice in the IV drop line. I was chattering like a magpie with a nice nurse in the recovery room. No doubt she thought I was a silly old man but she humored me and chattered back. :D Actually my whole experience at the hospital, Carilion Memorial in Roanoke, pre-op and op, was very good. Of course, I am grateful I didn't have to spend day after day after day there. We all know how that is, even in the best hospitals. So it's on to post-op. Will see the ortho surgeon for a follow-up Friday and then presumably get into physical therapy. Thanks again for all your kind thoughts!

Glad you had a relatively good night, Bob. Best wishes for continued success!

I'm glad to hear you are doing so well. I had my sutures out yesterday and found out I am still restricted activity wise. Started slow walking on the treadmill today as instructed. Even so, I am happy with how well everything has gone. Superbob, did your surgeon tell you what he was able to do yet? I hope tomorrow is an even better day for you.l

Superbob had his first post-op appointment today, three days after surgery. Superbob drove to the doc's office (sorry, no flying yet.:D ) Surgeon was very pleased that Superbob could bend his knee so well just three days out. (Flexible steel. :)) Superbob is only occasionally even carrying a cane around -- mostly walking unaided.

Doc gave Superbob a prescription for a month of physical therapy. Naturally, Superbob is pleased at the prospect of getting good knee exercise from his most excellent personal trainers. (Lois and Wonder Woman);)

Oh in answer to Betty: The surgeon found one large, one small tear, and some arthritis. He basically cleaned the stuff out so knee will work more smoothly. Said I might need "something more" in the future. I left it at that.
