Does having a CHD complicate everything? :/ normally people would go to the dentist have any treatment done and hey thats it, noo not me!! I go to the dentist, who send me up to my local hospital dentist department, who get in touch with my cardiac team about anti-biotics and all the rest of it, (Got an infection sat in the root & nerve of my back tooth) and i've to have Oral surgery at another specialist dental hospital!!! God knows when i'll get to go in and have it....Just hope this isn't going to delay a date for my heart op....why isn't anything straight forward?!? Rant over lol
Hope your all well :)

Sarah_Louise,
Rant away. You are so special. I am praying that you will be able to get in to see that Oral surgeon really quickly. Are you still taking anti-biotics for the infection until it can be taken care of? I hope so. Yea, I guess CHD could complicate everything, but I am sending you good vibes so you will have strength to overcome this bump in the road as well as all the ones previous.

Thanks Chris,
Not on any anti-biotics, The dentist today said they need to be careful because depending on what the dentist consultant says tomorrow he might want me in soon & will want me on anti-biotics while he's doing the op/procedure, so i can't have anti-biotics now cause i could end up having too many/overdose lol, but if its gonna be a while before i get it done then i am getting started on a course of anti-biotics,

Do dental procedures have you more nervous than heart ops? For me just getting teeth cleaned at dentist was way more intense than pre valve replacement.
So what type of procedure is needed for an infection in root and nerve of tooth, is the tooth being removed?

Depends what they are doing Fundy lol :)
They've said if they can save the tooth, then it will be a root canal :eek2: if not it will be a tooth extraction :(

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your tooth and yes it can become a much bigger "project" because of your CHDs and history. I am VERY surprised they didnt put you on antibiotics right away If you have an infection in your mouth, even with needing them during the procedure. If you havent I would put a call into the cardiologist and get their opinion I can't imagine they would want to risk the infection spreading or getting into your blood/heart.

Thanks Lyn, i was too, but i'll give then till Wednesday, because then i'll have been discussed with the dentist consultant (tomorrow) so it will have given them chance to come up with a treatment plan,
Thanks everyone,

honestly with an infection in your mouth, I wouldn't wait. The risks would be to high for me of having the infection spread, I wouldn't risk it especially since you have so much going on with your heart and upcoming surgery. the risk of BE wouldn't be worth it to me at least
I hate to say this but your luck seems to be a lot like Justin's, in that even when there is small chances of things going wrong, they seem to happen.

Finially got through to the hospital and i've been started on a 7 day course of strong anti-biotics to get rid of the infection while i wait for an appointment in the specialist dental hospital to have a consultation about whats going to happen with the consultant!
So unknown how long its going to take, just really hoping its not going to ed up delaying my op- back to see my cardiologist next tuesday so will hopefully have a plan of some sort as to when my ops going to be and hopefully have my questions answered,
Thank everyone :)
