This is a tough one as things are no so simple as to say if the Toprol is the cause of some of my fatigue.

Quick story for those who have not followed my recent kidney stone surgery..

I had kidney stone pain 9 days ago..it got much worse and I wound up getting one removed after a couple of days in the hospital. I have a stent that is causing some kidney pain upon urination.

My cardiologist was present at the operation and saw that the cardiac surgeon i consulted with had put me on 25 mg of Toprol. As I have first degree av block, he wants me off of the Toprol asap. He told me to reduce to 12.5 milligrams for a week and to call him, presumably to check on me before the next drop of the med.

I am exhausted..i know I've been through a rough week of not much food, iv meds, no exercise, etc. but I am also wondering if the decrease in the Toprol is effecting my energy as well.

My heart feels just a bit different (only been on 12.5 for 3 days) mostly when I lay down, I feel it beating harder, maybe some missed beats and mild arrhythmias..

Is it likely that i would feel fatigue from reducing the Toprol?

When I reduce my BP meds I also feel more irregularities when laying down, but I can't say that I feel more tired.
Whenever I have increased my BP meds, then I get fatigue and mild dizzy spells due to the slowing of my HR.

Hey VPR, I definitely feel more tired when I reduce my beta blocker dosage. I sleep for unusually long periods of time and I get winded quickly. My heart also pounded when I stood up for a month or so. The tiredness kinda went away after a couple weeks.

I went from 100 mg to 50 mg to 25 mg and with each reduction I had "more" energy..... I suspect it is from all that you have been through but ask your doctor.

This is what I would have expected...not asking the doctor though...pointless if you know what i mean..

Probably the entire ordeal is knocking me out more than I thought it would..so complicated to ever put your finger on fatigue..expecially with me having MS on top of all this...

Time for more coffee!

Easy on the coffee if you are having those arrhythmias on laying down :)

haha..I can't win can i?

Just took a one mile quick walk...there are hills around here...I am more out of breath exercising than I used to be, I also feel like my body is working much harder and I sweat more.. My guess is that my fatigue is just mostly recovering from the bad week and the fact my MR is just not working efficiently. There is really no one on Earth who can tell why I feel the way I do and how much is a combination of the MR, MS, surgery, stress and my general paranoia...

The idea of discussing this with any of my doctors is pretty useless...

Had to cancel the TEE scheduled for tomorrow. I'm glad as I am just mentally not able to deal wtih the procedure and more importantly, not in the mood to deal with the idea of surgery at this exact moment.

I spoke to the surgeons secretary and she said she doubted the doctor would have any problem putting this test off till sometime in January..I am calling my cardiologist to see him in the next week or two to get him up to date on what I am thinking.

One crisis at a time I guess and I remind myself daily how much worse it could be.
