Hi Sharad,

Thanks for you report, I also sent mine case history to you.
Regarding valve , as per my surgeon , On.X is new valve and we dont have figures of its success. He said St Jude valve is better choice.

My worry is that my surgeon is pedeatric surgeon and he said it is normally a pedeatric problem, so i will do it. I consulted 2 more surgeon and they said the different things (not related to child birth).

i.e why i am confused. Anyway my surgery is now planned for 20th May in Escorts Heart Institute in New Delhi.

I hope I will again chat in VR.com after my surgery :)

Thanks & Regards
Vishal JAin

Dear Vishal,

I am still confused about On-X and St. Jude, so it is good to decide after discussion with surgeon and cardiologist.

Cost of a valve in India is from Rs. 65,000/- to 75,000/-

I am sending My last report to your ID.

Again if you have any query pl. ask.

AH Yes, the famous "Too New, Too Untried Argument".

Did your surgeon say how many successful valve implants over how many years it would take for him to consider using a "relatively new" valve with obvious technological improvements over the 30 year old design of the St. Jude valve?

Would 70,000 valves implanted in patients in 64 countries with 5 year results showing the Lowest Rate of Morbid Events be enough? That is the data reported by On-X taken from FDA and other Data Submissions by the various manufacturers.

If you could have a newly manufactured automobile built to a 30 year old design or one built to a 12 year old design with obviously newer and better technology, both designed by the Same Designer, one at the beginning of his valve design career and the other designed after 20+ years of experience, which would you choose?

okay, boys, check your inboxes.

i've sent you my surgeon's cell phone number.
