When I was in ICU last week my family said they had me hooked to a pace maker to keep my heart beat at a steady 80. The nurse demonstrated the pace maker by disconnecting the wires at which time my heart rate started dropping. They reconnected the device and the heart rate climbed back to 80 . It was removed shortly after I came to.
They did not pull my wires, The nurse cutting them below the skin said she still had her's from when she was 6 and underwent heart surgery.I hope all goes well.
