Does anyone have any experience with St. Jude's Trifecta valve. I think it is rather new...about several years old now?? I hear it doesn't require Coumadin which appeals to me. I am looking at aortic valve replacement in March, 2011 and would love to avoid Coumadin. Any feedback is appreciated.

It's not available in the US, as far as I know it was just approved in a few countries in Europe. It is a pericardial tissue valve, which is why it doesn't need Coumadin.

Thanks for letting me know. My son-in-law works for St. Jude Medical and he told me about this valve. I just assumed it was used here. I appreciate your response.

I live in Western PA just north of Pittsburgh. I also lived in Hatfield, PA for a short time and worked in hospital at Norristown. I was under the impression that the trifecta valve is mechanical but no need for Coumadin...maybe some of it is tissue??? I am not clear on that part of it.

Introducing the next-generation pericardial tissue heart valve–and perfect complement–to the line of tissue valves from St. Jude Medical that includes Epic™ and Biocor.™ The Trifecta valve is a stented tissue heart valve with in vivo single-digit mean gradients across all valve sizes.1 The unique valve design includes pericardial tissue leaflets attached to the exterior of the valve stent allowing it to open more fully and efficiently to perform like a natural heart valve
