So it has been a long time since I have been here but I know that you guys know it all.

Caleb had a skin expander suck in his leg 2.5 weeks ago. He is still bleeding out of the incision. His INR is a bit high (3.7) at on Monday. He is off of Lovenox and at last check his platelets were at 174,000. He also has been known to have factor 7 deficiency. I'm so confused why he is still bleeding. I know I really shouldn't have to be confused, I kinda just said it all. I'm just feeling really left in the dark no one is looking into this. Should I be pushing for a answer? Should I be finding a different Dr to help find the answers?

Thanks for any of your advice.

I'm just bumping this incase anyone has suggestions. I hope the bleeding has stopped. Are you talking about one of those ballon type things that stretch the skin?

That is exactly what I'm talking about. His leg is still bleeding and by bleeding I do mean just oozing. It is very annoying and the wound isn't healing.

Would it be possible to ask if he could go to a wound care specialist? I'm assuming this is to have more skin for some kind of surgery, if so it would probably be a good idea to figure out why he is not healing well with this, incase it means they should do something when he has the next surgery that they are stretching the skin for.

That is the funny thing his surgeon is a wound care Dr. also. I'm just confused as to why she really isn't more concerned about it. She keeps saying he is on coumadin that is why it is still bleeding, I know that coumadin won't make you bleed for 3 weeks.

is it a big incision? I have no idea what she is thinking, maybe you could ask her flat out how long would it take for HER to be concerned?

If nothing else, it could be a source of infection to have something open for that long. Get after the doctor. She has to be accountable for this!
