From the bad came the good

Vein in right arm torn during right heart catheterization and permanently tied shut.
The good was the motivation to learn POC monitoring to spare further damage to left vein during blood tests for INR levels.

Went in for AVR (bovine) ended up with total heart block, pacer, and an arterial line damage the nerves in my dominant hand index finger (can't bend it). I am an artist so this is a big issue. However, like others, I am glad to be alive and feeling better 5 weeks post-op. Linda Jane
