I'm not even sure where to post this, because there is nothing "small" about it, but I just found out from another church member of ours that Jackie needs another surgery tomorrow! We were down to see her yesterday and were under the impression that everything was fine, other than some nausea.

Pray for Jackie and her family, especially her husband, John and their daughter, Jennifer. Here are the last few posts from her CaringBridge site:

Jackie is going to have another test right now. She is having a fluoroscopy, which is an imaging technique to obtain real-time images of the internal structures of a patient through the use of a fluoroscope.
Her heart is working twice as hard as it should right now, so they are going to try and see if the valve is working properly.
Please pray for positive results and that they can figure out why the heart is working so hard and take care of it without further procedures.

Jackie is back from the test. We met with the surgeon and she will have to have open-heart surgery again tomorrow to fix or replace the valve that isn?t working well. Please pray that this will go well and be successful. Thanks so much for all the support and prayers that you all have given.

I know there are others here who have successfully gone through a second surgery shortly after their first one, so I know it can be done, but it seems like an awful lot to but one's body through. Keep those prayers coming!

So sorry to read this Jean. Please tell Jackie and her family that we are all sending our prayers their way and will be thinking of them all tomorrow.

Jean,

Sorry to hear the bad news. The only good thing I can think of is that Jackie is so close to her first surgery that at least she hasn't gone through full healing only to have to go through it all again.

It does sound like she is in really good hands and I will pray that this second surgery is the one that will make things perfect.

Please give her our best.

So sorry to hear it Jean. She will be in our thoughts and prayers. What type of valve proceedure did Jackie have? Can't recall:confused:

Gina,
She had an AVR at the Mayo Clinic on Friday. I've been thinking about you, Gina. I was thinking that your family and Jackie's should meet since your families are very similar. Jackie and John have just one child too, a daughter about the same age as Kara. There is a pic of Jennifer with my Molly on Jackie's CaringBridge site. Remember the one we took of Kara and Molly hugging each other goodbye? That was cute. Maybe some day we can all get together at a reunion.

Thought I'd add the link to Jackie's CB site:

Jackie was brought from her room to surgery at about 6:40 am. She should be in the operating room within an hour.

oh, no. It's hard enough to go through one, much less two. At least she is still in the hospital where they will keep a careful eye on her. My prayers for JaCKIE and her dear family. Please keep us posted. Blessins............

More good thoughts and prayers for Jackie. I'm so sorry to read she is having a rough time of it.

It would be useful to know what type of valve she received and why it is not functioning well. It would also be good to know the manufacturer.

Please tell Jackie that she is in deep in my thoughts and prayers along with her family. My brother-in-law went through very close to the same thing - 2 valve surgeries within 1 stay - and is doing very well.

Hi Jean,
Getting together again.! We had such a nice time in Phoenix. Kids really took to each other too! Maybe this summer:) Weekend halfway between IL and MN. We would very much enjoy meeting Jackie and her family. She is a talented artist. I took a look at her work online. Would love to work with her on a painting when she is feeling up to it! What wonderful therapy her work will be for her.

We are praying for an uneventful surgery for Jackie today. Please give her my best if you speak to the family. Or...happen to go up for a visit!

PS. According to Jackie's Carebridge page.......she pulled though! YEA! Happy healing!

2nd surgery complete!

2nd surgery complete!

From the care page:

Jackie surgery is complete. We have not heard how long she was on the heart and lung bypass or if the valve was fixed or replaced. The message from the doctor is that it was a success. They will close up the incision and bring her into ICU within the next two hours.
