Conversation between one of my first graders and myself yesterday ...
First grader: How old are you?
Me: Why do you want to know?
First grader: How old are you?
Me: Why do you want to know?
First grader: My grandma wants to know.
Me: Why does your grandma want to know?
First grader: She is just wondering how old you are. She thinks you look about one hundred and fifty.
Me: Tell your grandma that I am not quite that old ,...but almost.
First grader: Okay.(smiles)
The things these kids come up with.
Yesterday was also the hundredth day of school. I had them write about what they would do if they had $100.00. Their eyes lit and they went to work. I wish I could do all the stuff they think one could do with $100.
Some of them wrote," I would be rich!"
