Thanks to Bina's translation from southernese to "tween" (between southerneez and northernese) I am able to provide this translation for our northern brethren.

I am incredulous at the lengths to which the members of this contest will go in order to excuse their errant behavior.

SuperBob has surely aspired to heights previously unattained when making excuses. Imagine, blaming a poor canine for his lack of self motivation. The miscreant must surely blame all errant gaseous emissions on the poor animal as well.

Cooker, this motivational tool is offered in lieu of your canine deficit. Cover liberally with ice and apply to the appropriate location, we respectfully request the details as to the specific body part be kept to yourself.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Remember, this is an annual holiday so take the time to enjoy it, unless of course you regularly dine to excess at a preferred dining venue. I must admit that I have contemplated various alternative actions to commute my travel time to and from the buffet line. There are however certain logistical difficulties that must be resolved.

Happy Thanksgiving "you all" (attempted southernism by a northerner)

I am loving the translation banter! Fun stuff. Do we have any valley girl translations? Aussie?

Losing weight can be a riot! Or atleast the fun can keep us numb in the pain of losing.

The translations from the original Southernese by Bina and mntbiker are brilliant. Of course, what they cannot do is explain Bubba's logic -- i.e., the leap from me crediting Sadie for getting me off my butt to Bubba's theory that I am using the Superdawg as an "excuse." But to explain such logic would be to accomplish the impossible. :p :p :p

Also, just wondering why we don't get any numbers from Bubba? Get lots of critiques from him, but he stays on the sidelines . . . Come on in, Bubba, the Throw Down will welcome you! :D ;)

Thank goodness for Bina for translating. I always knew Bubba talked funny.

Congratulations to all of you. You are all doing so well.
Hey there's even Debster, who hasn't gained and holding steady.

As for Thanks Giving Dinner remember:
- to eat slowly. It takes 20 minutes for your body to realize it has had enough.

A continue good luck wish to everyone. Enjoy the feast and don't worry.

Bubba and Logic:rolleyes: :p I don't think our Bubba needs to lose weight. His humor has contributed to the on going banter that helps make this thread what it is:) Now if we discover he is a closet fat-tie we will need to call in the Ref:D :p :D :D

**CINDY SPEAKING**

I weighed 156, down 1 one pound this week. When we started the Throw Down I weighed 154. I lost two pounds, but then we really got off track and I gained eight over a few weeks  . Now we've really been very good about what we're eating for about two weeks. So, at this point, I down four pounds from the highest point. I really need to lose at least 20 more pounds. A thought that really helps me stay focussed and feel "set" inside, to eat lightly and healthily, is I can take three or four months and concentrate on losing weight and after that I can occasionally have some of those things I've denied myself. They'll still be there after losing my weight.

Great job!!! That is the beauty of this..........we don't have to lose "x" number of pounds by "x" date. And you are "SO" right........all of those delicacies we love will be there when we reach our goal!!!!!

My weirdness exposed

My weirdness exposed

I get these weird ideas every now and then. I woke up this morning with this strange Thanksgiving reworking of the famous Christmas poem, "'Twas The Night Before Christmas." So, here goes (never mind my lack of poetic talent).

Twas The Night Before Throw Down Thanksgiving.

?Twas the night before Throw Down Thanksgiving, when all through the forum, not a creature was stirring, not even a chimp;
The Slimfast was stored in the refrigerator with care, in hopes that some weight loss soon would be there;
The Throwdowners were dressed in snug Pjs, while visions of bikinis danced in their heads;
And Cooker in his cage, a banana under his cap, had just settled down for a long fall nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a chatter, Cooker sprang from his cage to see what was the matter.
Away to the window he flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the creast of the new -fallen leaves, gave the luster of amber to objects below,
When to Cooker?s wondering eyes should appear, but a stretch limo sleigh, and eight gourmet chef dears.

With a dapper ole driver, adorned in white brightly, Cooker knew in a moment is must be Emeril Legasse.
More rapid than eagles his colleagues they came, and he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:

?Now, Paula! Now, Bobby! Now, Giada and Dave! On, Rachel! On Michael! On, Sandra and Tyler!
To centerpiece of the house, yes to the kitchen all! Now a dash of salt! A dash of pepper! BAM, dash it all!

?As sage in the dressing seasoning will supply, and the glazed ham is flavorful, oh and smell that pumpkin pie!
So in the kitchen they prepared festive food, with all the fixins and side, and sweet tea too.

And then, in a twinkling, Cooker heard down the hall the chatter of chefs providing his proof, this wasn?t all in his head, and then he turned around to see Emeril into the dining room abound.

The turkey was dressed to the nines; and Paula yelled ?Y?all scoot?git that ham on the table, hurry up?scoot.? A bundle of dishes were scurried with care, but Rachel said ?That?s delish? as she had a quick snack. Her eyes, how they twinkled! Her dimples how merry! And Emeril?s cheeks were so rosy after drinking some sherry! Bobby snuck in his barbeque from his grilling show, and some pasta throw in by Giada, you know.

Cooker?s banana was ripe as Tyler yanked it from his teeth, and he made it into pudding before you could say wreath. Emeril?s broad face and round little belly shook when he laughed like a bowl full of pepper jelly.

The turkey was chubby and plump, which Cooker grabbed for himself. The chefs laughed when they saw him, in spite of themselves.
A wink of his eye and a scratch of his head, the chefs soon knew they had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, as he turned with a jerk. He filled them some stockings being busy at work. Laying his hands on the slim fast, and celery, and okra ya know.

He sprang out to the sleigh, and bestowed them with gifts, and they all flew away with Paula now hissing.
Cooker heard her exclaim as they drove out of sight, ?I don?t eat this skinny crap, but Happy Thanksgiving Y?all.?

We have been bless from the pen of Wise!!!!! I love it!!! I feel honored and humbled.!!!! Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all good night:D

There once was a Chimp from the south.....
Who was caught with a pie in his mouth...........
The scales not he feared...............
The Prune Juice was near..........
In the end he gained not an ounce:p :p :p :p :p

Once again, I've figured out the secret to not overindulging! I cannot believe it, but this is the very first Thanksgiving meal I can EVER remember that I have not walked around the whole rest of the day feeling like I was overly stuffed and ready to drop dead. I was full, but not stuffed.

My secret you ask? Dishes! As soon as I finished my modest plate of food (I seriously cut back the portions I usually serve myself at Thanksgiving!) I started working on the dishes. In order for anyone to have a plate for desert, I had to get a load in the dishwasher right away. So I didn't have any seconds (an amazing accomplishment for me!). And my sister-in-law put away the leftovers as I washed the dishes (if I had been putting them away, I'm certain I would have taken a bite here and a bite there and completely ruined all of my efforts.) so they weren't a temptation once I was done. When everyone else was having their desert, I did more dishes! I never even saw them eating the pecan or pumpkin pies because I was at the sink cleaning up. People kept offering to do it for me, but I turned them all away. I revealed my secret after the fact so they wouldn't try to steal my idea! ;)

Plus, once everyone had eaten until they were ready to pop (except for me!) I invited people to go on a walk with me. My grandparents and uncle stayed at the house and watched the Cowboy's game, but everyone else came with me. We walked for 25 minutes in the brisk (48 degree) air. When we got back our ears and cheeks were pink from the cold, but we all felt a little better for it.

Everyone is gone now, and I started to get hungry again. There were plenty of leftovers, and I was happy to have them. But I wanted to make sure I didn't overindulge, so I used a salad plate instead of a dinner plate to make sure I kept my portions small. It worked! I'm satisfied, got a little bit of all of my favorite foods, and I'm not completely stuffed! Oh! I even cooked all of our traditional foods with lower sodium ingredients. And no one even noticed the difference! :D

I'm SO excited about my accomplishments today. Even if my weight does go up tomorrow, I know for a fact that I was a success today. And I have all of you to thank! You all were on my mind today and you helped me make the right choices. Thank you all!

Way to go!

Way to go!

Awesome accomplishment Nikki!! You are a shining example. It seemed like, from your telling it, it was pretty easy for you to do.

Okay, tell me, does the prune juice really help!? Or is this banned substance all in fun and without merit? ;)

Pi are square; it's only really round after sticks to our waists.

Amazingly, it really was... But it may have had something to do with the fact that I made it all. So I was busy the whole time the smells were building up and therefore didn't notice them to whet my appetite. My aunt says that when she hosts at her house she frequently eats less because she's just so tired. That's why I've suggested to my husband that we host Christmas dinner this year! ;)

Of course, not all the leftovers are calling to me from the fridge... THIS is the hard part, apparently!

Holy *&^%!!!! I know I said I'd be happy about my success yesterday regardless of what the scale said this morning, but I was SO not expecting what I saw... At the very least, I expected to maintain. But what I saw was SO much better! I'm down two pounds from Wednesday, putting me at 130 for a grand total loss of 12 pounds!!! I'm still in shock. Wow. Just Wow.

Thank you dishes!

Bubba----LOGIC---SMOGIC??? ah ain't no Vulcan (*Star Trek moosic playin' in backgroun')! ah knows yer type. Yo' credit SuperDawg Sadie fo' Gittin' yo' a movin', but down th' road yo' will turn on pore Sadie an' blame her on whuffo' yo' HAVEN'T been walkin'. Fust it will be too cold fo' pore Sadie, th' snow will be too deep fo' HER, it is rainin' an' yo' doesn't be hankerin' Sadie t'git wet, th' bars haf been chasin' dawgs lately, th' hunters is shootin' ennythin' thet will move an' yo' doesn't haf an Orange Vess to fit Sadie-----sh'd ah go on????

Now t'th' Throw Down THROW DOWN. Bubba kin't loose no weight. It'd be sacroligious down these hyar parts t'not ax fo' seconds an' thirds. Th' cook might jest make yo' wears yer meal home. Yo' knows how much them thin's cost nowdays?

Ennyway, it took years of hard wawk (an' plenty of 6 packs) t'git this hyar way. It'd be a shame t'waste all thet wawk jest t'git healthy. ah plan on slidin' into mah grave wif a Bud in one han' an' a piece of fried possum in t'other sayin' "DAMN, whut a ride". :p :p :p

Way to go Niki!!!! Have not even thought about getting on the scales. My niece and I did go to the park and play several rounds of Boccie ball.....not real strenuous but a lot of bending over.....sort of like doing deep knee bends.

I am sure all of us have been more conscious of what we are eating. I know I have. I had all I wanted and no seconds, that is a big improvement for me:D

I don't know if it helps or not......it does help with regularity:eek: My wife said there is not enough Prune Juice in the world to fix what ails me:D :D :p :D :D

Niki - you are SuperNiki now!!!!!! Congratulations.

Prune juice is very high in calories. I LOVE prunes, but never buy them because I looked on the box. I might as well eat 2 Snicker's bars.

I didn't eat much yesterday either. We were at my SIL's with a ton of people including my 13 mo old granddaughter. I spent my time keeping her happy so really didn't even feel like eating much. I'm not stepping on the scale until next Friday though!

Way to go, Niki! You should get an award for courage for even stepping on the scales the day after Turkey Day. I don't plan on getting on any scale til a week from today.

Today Sadie (my excuse dog) and I will take a long walk to try to work off some of those calories. If the weather gets too bad, my excuse dog and I go to the basement and I ride the exercise bike while she plays tug-of-war with me.

On recent treks, we discovered some stands of walnut trees growing in the wild, and gathered several bags of black walnuts that had fallen to the ground. Will spend some calories cracking them open this weekend.
