If the mattress aerobics don't work try the horizontal polka.

So, the goats and sheep may be too noisy and distracting......
Alternate plan: if you can lie on your stomach this works. Have a friend, spouse, whatever, sprinkle a generous amount of baby powder all over your back, then they smoothly spread it out v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y.......within several minutes you should pass out.

Warm massage oil is more salubrious.

However, the outcome is not soporific. ;) :D ;) Can be terrific though. :) :) :)

Okay people, back on track:) :)
Ross, have you tried sleeping in a room by yourself? (that's what I do)
then you are free to listen to music, read, etc. without disturbing Lyn.
I also bought a foam topper for my mattress and made sure that I had good quality cotton sheets.

Hi Ross,

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble sleeping. I too have had trouble sleeping, but I take an antidepressant called Trazodone. Its brand name is Desyryl and is a member of the tricyclic antidepressant family. I took it when I was younger and I started it again about a year ago. Like you, the "sleeping" pills didn't do it. I tried Ambien CR and Lunesta, but neither worked for more than a night or two. Trazodone works every night. I take two and I do sleep. Every once in a while I will have trouble but that's when there is a major crisis and I'm out of my mind with worry. The best part is that it is generic. It's been around for years. It will make you sleepy in the morning for a couple of weeks, but it will pass. It's not addictive, so ask your doc about it. There is also amitriptylene, which is also a tricyclic. The extra benefit is that it may help with mood, not that you are ever in a bad mood.

By the way, how is your son?

Barbara

Bina may be on to something. I'll send you a night-light.

Maybe a game of twister before retiring:cool:

I really think you have earnt yourself a turn at the sleep clinic. See if a sleep specialist has any tricks to help...
I am also wondering if you might be able to combine 2 different drugs to get to sleep. My back-pain meds cause drowsiness and when I combine them with a sleep tablet I get a really good nights sleep.
Sleeping alone really helps...its terribly annoying trying to get to sleep when your partner is snoring/sleeping only 2 minutes after lights-out!.
Hope you get sweet dreams soon.

If I had better insurance, I would. I can't afford to go play at the sleep clinic and pay them $200 to tell me something I already know. :(

I applaude Bob for his use of $1 words!!! If one's vocabulary is a cornucopia of verbage then indeed he should share it. I myself not having a virtual plethora of vocaulary words at my command find it refreshing and most challenging.

I do not think he intended to be conflicuatory:p :p :p

Yours Truly,

Thom:p

I was just playing. Having f-u-n.

So sorry.

I was, too. I used to do crosswords with my boss every morning and I came up with more words than he did, some of which he hadn't ever heard of and he would just tell me that was one of my 50 cent words. :D
