    Daughter inherited my Bicuspid Valve

I'm sorry to hear that. When I found out about my BAV the doctors tested all my family, luckily nobody else. My 5 year old son is fine, and I will have to check the 3 year and 3 month old later. Always very stressful!

    5 Years since repair.....should I care?

Today is 5 years since my aneurysm was replaced, my aortic valve was repaired and I had many complications. Sounds bad, but I can and should forget this date since my Feb 2015 aortic valve replacement has left me feeling good! Out with the old and in with the new! 2 OHS in 5 years is too many!

    Great 3 month Post-Op!

Hello everyone, I had my first echo then follow-up with surgeon yesterday after a Feb 18 AVR. I was 34 going into my second OHS as my wife was 32 weeks pregnant. My EF had dropped to 33% and my left ventricle was increased to 7.3 cm (huge)! Preliminary echo results from yesterday show EF is...

Anyone had a Heart Catheterization with Exercise?

Never heard of this either and I would want to know the reasons too. During a cath you are very still, I would be concerned the movement could increase the risk artery damage, bleeding.

10 Month Dr Visit - Hoping for half marathon approval

I'm sure you will get approval for whatever training you want to do. Depression and sad feelings are very common and experienced by many. I had many of the same feelings as you after my first surgery. Since surgery #2 I've felt great! Good luck!

26M - learned of BAV in Jan and had repair. No symptoms. Anyone w/ same experience?

I was 30, BAV and aortic aneurysm found during echo. No symptoms, but was sent for echo by GP after high blood pressure and right bundle branch block found. Had aorta replaced and valve repaired in 2010. In 2015 had BAV replaced with mechanical valve. Heart was enlarged and low EF. I'm also...

    INR drops with excercise

This is interesting. I'm having more and more energy to exercise now and have also done a few 5km runs. I understand everyone metabolizes warfarin differently, but is 10mg and 12mg alot? I'm not sure how big you are, or if that makes a difference, but I'm a 34 yr old male, 6 foot, 186lbs and I...

Trying to figure out how to buy inr kit and supplies through insurance

I am looking into this in Canada as well. My family doctor is not familiar with home testing, the local pharmacist was not familiar either. I called my insurance provider Manulife who sent me a form for my family doctor to fill out. I also followed up with my workplace Manulife liaison, and she...

    9 weeks post-op and a new baby!

It was a crazy winter for my wife and I, she was super pregnant and i was facing my second OHS in 5 years. February 18 I had my AVR and recovery has been fairly uneventful. Last week, our first daughter was born happy and healthy. We are so blessed by Ellie Anne Gough! She is loved by her 5...

    Pacemaker lead dislodged during surgery.

Hey Steve, My atrial lead only senses, and does not provide any pacing. If it needed to pace, then the state of he lead would really hurt the battery life. They were able to program it differently so it can sense properly at lower sensitivity, if that makes sense! I go back in a couple...

    Post op stroke

Sounds like the new meds. I've had that feeling, but never fainted. I hope your scan was clear for bleeding, that's the scary part of being on warfarin.

FDA Approval: On-X aortic valves with less warfarin

Reading graphs is not the issue, the issue is the lack of source and labeling on the graph. Although the newer generation mechanical valves are similar, only On-X has the improved approval for reduced INR in some areas. I am in Canada, and as far as I know, the labeling has not changed here. My...

FDA Approval: On-X aortic valves with less warfarin

I personally think this is great news, and the reason why so many people have chosen the On-X valve, myself included. I'm not sure what your chart is supposed to show or represent, but in fairness pellicle, it's only applicable to this conversation if it were related to incidents with the On-X...

    Pacemaker lead dislodged during surgery.

I am horrible at updating. I met with the pacemaker surgeon instead of having the procedure. After reviewing the tests and discussions he decided that my lead was fine for now and did not need any intervention. This all came about because I got the courage to email him and explain my situation...
