I haven't posted anything here in about a month. A lot has happened!
I finally met my surgeon on 3/31 after weeks of waiting and wondering what he would want to do.
Due to my family history, symptoms, 5.0cm aortic root, and 4.2cm ascending aorta, he chose to schedule sooner rather than later, with the David procedure being the plan of attack.
Fast forward to April 14. What a scary day. Walking into the hospital and getting on the fast track to the or. Yikes. I was the 2nd case of the day and wide awake when I got there which didn't help my nerves.
I had my two younger daughters and my best friend with me.
They took me back to the OR around 1, surgery started around 2:30, & it went until around 8:30/9:00. I'm very happy to say that the procedure was successful and they were able to reimplant the existing valve!
I stayed in the hospital until the 21st and I've been recovering at home since.
