    New heart parts

I have finished the first 2 weeks of cardio-rehab. It is great. I am anxious to get back to my regular gym but like being monitored. I would recommend a rehab program to all post-surgery patients.

    New heart parts

On 6/11 I had my aortic vavle replaced, my mitral vavle repaired and a MAZE procedure. I was released today and feel pretty good.:) The surgery was performed by Dr. Vincent Gaudiani and his team. They are absolutely great. I spent a lot of time looking for the best and believe I found him...

how long did you wait between cardio saying "it's time" and setting surgery date?

I finished all tests on 5/12. I had already searched for a great surgeon. Met with him twice, the last time on 5/22. Will have surgery tomorrow (6/11)

Reddog's surgery is Thursday, June 11, at Stanford

I wish you the best. I will be at Cal Pacific with Dr. Vincent Gaudiani at the same time on Thursday - aortic replacement, mitral repair and a MAZE. Drs. Miller and Gaudiani are the two best in Northern CA.

easybob's avr, mvr, and maze are Thursday, June 11

Thank you all for your comments. I would not have thought of several of the things you have mentioned. I have a great surgeon (Dr. Vincent Gaudiani in SF) so even though I am very apprehensive I expect a favorable outcome.

    Aortic root measurement

Thank you for the info. I am having my aortic valve replaced and mitral valve repaired sometime in next couple of weeks. I meet with the surgeon next week to schedule and to discuss any other procedures he, and my cardiologist believe are needed.

    Aortic root measurement

Just finished a TEE procedure and it confirmed the need for aortic valve replacement. My aortic root is 3.8cm in diameter. Cardiologist didn't discuss this. What is considered normal (if there is such a thing as "normal")

    SF area surgeon

I need a new aortic valve, mitral repair and MAZE procedure. I have narrowed my search to Drs. Vincent Gaudiani (California Pacific) and Craig Miller (Stanford). Any comments would be appreciated.

    MAZE procedure

thank you for your response. i wish you well on your 4/20 procedure. let us know how you are doing

    Finally changed my mind!

I wish you well. I am in the process of deciding between the tissue and mechanical. Even at age 69 I am leaning toward the mechanical - wouldn't look forward to another surgery in my early 80's

    MAZE procedure

Soon I will be opened for an aortic valve replacement. I have a-fib and wonder if any of you had a MAZE procudure to correct the a-fib as long as your chest was already open.

    SF area surgeon

Ray - thanks for the message - how did you make the decision to go with a tissue valve vs. a mechanical? was it because that is the valve your surgeon prefers?

    SF area surgeon

I need a new aortic valve. Any surgeon recommendations in the San Francisco bay area. I will go anywhere for a great physician.
