Watch the side effects on the Revatio for the first little bit. Stuart got very lightheaded and tired at first. Just something to be aware of. Good luck I hope that it all works out for you. It has been like night and day for Stuart.

Revatio (sildenafil citrate)

you're getting screwed. it seems.

pfizer has just taken viagra/sildenafil and renamed or rebranded it as revatio.

ask your doc if you can take viagra or the generic sildenafil citrate if it's the same.

+if true, can't your doc give you some of the many free trial packs of viagra
handed out by pfizer to all the urologists?

++a quick search of online pharmacies shows sildenafil available in 100mg
at about US$1.00 each. should be able to get a fedex shipment from
canada pretty quickly.

Pfizer has announced it has submitted regulatory filings in the United States and Europe for Revatio (sildenafil citrate) as a treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a rare, aggressive and life-shortening vascular disease. Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra, Pfizer's erectile dysfunction medication used by more than 23 million men worldwide.

Revatio will be manufactured and marketed in a different dosage, color and shape than Viagra.

so now i want to know....

why the hell is pfizer doing this? new shape and color? hey, it's new and improved!
understandable, they can extend the patent, or get a new patent on revatio.

how much in kickbacks is your doctor getting? why is he prescribing revatio when he
knows it's the same as sildenafil. he knows the price difference, yet still prescribes
the more expensive version? if he doesn't know, then he should be fired.

why doesn't the insurance company know this? after all, they're the ones deciding
who gets what and how much.

doesn't your pharmacist know? can't they suggest you ask your doc about
the alternative?
 
Well, as it turned out people, the pharmacy didn't GIVE me the pills --- I was charged $72.00 + tax for 5 pills! :eek:

Anyway, I'll re-group on Monday & start my war w/the insurance co.

And if nothing else, my DH said he'll ask his doctor for viagra & then give me the pills! :p:):D
 
Hi Norma ~ I'm so sorry that you're having to go through all this. The pharmacy should have been kind enough to have given you the pills. My best friend from high school had a father who was a pharmacist and they were so rich he paid cash for their house and for all their cars. Pharmacists have lots of money and it wouldn't have hurt them to have given them to you.

ChouDouFu may be right. I remember my doctor, when he told me that medicine would not help my PH, telling me also that some PH medicine is nothing more than Viagara, but with a different name. Ask your doctor about this.

Keeping you in my prayers, my friend. I hope you get this resolved soon with the insurance company, or that Pfizer will give you the medicine you need.

Okay, my Rx for Revatio finally got approved & my hubby's picking it up for me at the pharmacy this evening. So I guess I can wipe off the war paint & put my bow & arrows away....for now! The war is won! Yay! :):)
