Well i'd like to say i got the third degree from both my surgeon and a

talking to from my Family Dr. on the facts of staying healthy before

my surgery date Jan 8th.

I carry the hand cleanser,i bleach dale off as he enters the door from

work, case hes picked anything up there.

Kids all coming home for christmas, hopefully all healthy and unsniffley.

I just got over a cold, and aflue bug myself.

i still have to grocery shop for christmas and tonight if i don't go to

Shantal's christmas play, she will be devastated,i never had time to

work on her to get out of it........Too late

This living in a bubble is crap, you cannot possibly avoid your home

with the christmas season and family here.

i understand the rest part of it.......yes my kids are great they help

and will definately put the dinner together.

CAN I GO TO MY GRANDAUGHTERS CHRISTMAS PROGRAM???

My doc said he didnt care who was ill get them outta your house

k i'm gonna tell Dale (hubby) he's in the doghouse tonight if he gets

sick:eek:

This is a difficult time for heart surgery and staying HEALTHY through

christmas and newyears.....very difficult time!!!!!!! of year.

I am going to the christmas program, outta my bubble for a bit

any suggestions masks, coveralls, bubblewear? Will i was warned of

any conditions which will prolong surgery due to cancellations of getting

sick and now i am peranoid, then i get  cus it took so long for a

date.........how can you possibly avoid unknown factors such as this

when i asked that question to my surgeon he said stay in your bubble.

i told him i'd wait to enter the hospital on the 7th to pick up sickness

he agreed that likely wouldnot be hard:eek:

What about VR do i have permission to go tonight?

and don't all of you have a cut vote here and go easy on me please lol

I would think that yes, you could go tonight.....just don't get huggy and kissy with friends, don't touch the door handles or bathrooms unless you use the hand sanitizer afterwards. If someone near you coughs or sneezes, walk the other way for a few minutes. (i'm a germ-o-phobe)

Is it cold? Can you wear gloves when you have to shake hands, etc. and get away with it.

I would still go. Bring your hand sanitizer.

Use some of those mask things. Stand back a little ways from people, especially those who do not know your circumstances and want to get touchy feely. Carry hand sanitizer. If you must touch door knobs or stairway railings use a paper towel or something like that. I know this sounds like a lot, but the joy your grand-daughter will feel having her Grammy there will be well worth it. I will pray that all the germs will stay away from you...:D

I agree, with the above precautions. You can't litterally stay in a bubble. You can try......and not go anywhere that you do not have to go. I know it would mean a lot to me to see my grandchild. If you are feeling up to it and good about it..............go:)

Deb go - keep away from sniffly people, coughy people, try not to touch anything, use the sanitizer, keep your hands out of your mouth, hair, etc., and you should be OK. If you have plenty of rest today and tomorrow as well, that should help. Oh, yeah, don't stand around in the cold if you can avoid it - get someone to go and get the car while you wait inside.

You're right, you can't live in a bubble, just do the best you can. Don't go out, though, if you can avoid it !

Maybe you could do all of the things suggested. I would consider wearing a mask if you have one that way people will know not to come around kissing and hugging on you.

Enjoy and update us

Stay there as short as possible. Don't get there early and leave as soon as it's over. I know exactly what you're going thru. I got over a bad cold a couple days before my surgery and I kept my kids home from school for a few days before to avoid sickness. I can't stand being in public this time of year anyways and the stress of trying not to get sick can be overwhelming. Honestly I think I would not go and explain things to the grandaughter . I'm just really germaphobic and kids understand a lot more then you think.

I tend to agree with Gadoty.
If the surgeon told me to live in a bubble I probably would.....honestly, you have waited so long for this Deb and you'd be kicking yourself if you went out and picked up some bug from your grand daughter's play and then your surgery was postponed!
She will understand if you don't go, especially if you get her parents to help you explain it to her - you could get them to take heaps of photos and then look at them with her afterwards. That way she will know that you really are interested and would have loved to go, BUT...

Anyway that's just my opinion, and I'm a bit paranoid about germs and bugs anyway LOL. I work in an early childhood centre and I'm forever washing and sanitising my hands....:(

simple answer......don't go.

for the same reason you don't want to go out xmas shopping, or to church, or to a
day-care center. lotsa people = lotsa germs. you don't have to live in a bubble,
but you want to avoid concentrations of people/germs when possible.

your granddaughter will miss having you at the performance. but if you do go, and
wind up catching something there (or somewhere else) and your surgery is
postponed and your health deteriorates, or you go ahead with it and have
complications, then your granddaughter will think it's her fault.

how about you have someone videotape the performance so you can watch it
together when you're recovering. and be sure to call her on her cellphone as
soon as her part is over. can you have someone in the auditoreum with a
picturephone so you can tell her you watched?

I can understand your dilemna. If you do go, I concur with what the others said: wash your hands, bring a hand sanitizer and make sure you don't bring your hands near your eyes or nose until after hands are washed ;)

Awesome seating arrangements

Awesome seating arrangements

I'm so happy ,Chelsey had to have Shantal in a half hour

early and made some arrangements with the principle;)

we were away from the people away from the gymnasium

Came in after everyone was in and seated and the principle escotred

two of us to the top balconey(way up high) and we had the best

view in the place away from everybody. It was great,Shantal saw

us and started to wave, with her biggest smile when she saw us way

up there. My daughter phoned me from school and said she talked

to staff and being only half a block from school,we could leave

after she called it was clear of people,i took a work mask with me

anyhow and thanks to Chelsey it was great. The rest should be

clear sailing till surgery.;)The concert was just awesome we

luved it all the kids made it Christmas.:):):)

Deb,
Glad you were able to work it out so you could see the kids. Now...Back into that bubble woman! You are getting close to that date with the surgeon. During this time of year I live on zinc lozenges and oranges.... Still sending vibes out toward you to kill off all germs;)
