I've always been weary of flu shots but now that I've
had surgery...?
You guys and gals are the best informed so I've decided
to take your advice............YES or NO?

My DW and I are strongly urged to get them because between us we are in practically every high-risk category known to mankind :D:D --- so we get them every year. The year there was a shortage, we even waited in line for hours in Northern Virginia to get them. I think it is a wise precaution.

So my answer is the same as Mary's: YES. :)

yes i have mine yearly i have asthma as well ,dont know wether its coincidence but i get a bit of a cold approx 1 week after having it the last two years ,did mention it to the doct a he seems to think its coincidence
flu can still be a killer so i think its a wise move to have it

I too get the flu shot and don't experience any reaction. Although it seems I get more head cold symptoms and sore throats than I did before having OHS.
This is just my personal opinion.

I am allergic to eggs so........no shot for me. I make sure I carry wipes and use a lot of antibacterial gel all season. No crowded public places (movie theatres, etc.) and no eating at fast food joints. I usually make it through with minimal sniffles.

I actually had the flu this past summer so even a flu shot wouldn't have worked. Hopefully I am immune now for this year. I think I was exposed in a group of people who were visting from out of the country (flu season where they lived).

My Doc's strongly encourage getting a FLU Shot every year, which I have done.

Just had mine a couple of weeks ago.
Experienced very minor 'cold-like' symptoms for one day.

It is a must for me. Simple colds can turn into dangerous events for me. I've gotten them religiously for about 10 years now.

I have always gotten a flu shot. But, a simple cold can turn into a major & life threatening event for me too. And I've had pneumonia several times in my life also. I started getting a pneumonia shot as well but that's only administered every 5 years.

Like Gina said however, some people are allergic to eggs & cannot have one. I have never had any adverse reactions to one at all.

I agree....just do it if you don't have egg allergies. I, too, also get the shot for pneumonia. Having had a bad flu once I'd like to avoid that one at any cost. I'm not sure, but I'm suspecting that my flu shot last sat. maybe the cause of my coumadin numbers being low yesterday. Thanks to great advice I've received, I know what to do about it since my drs. office has pretty much cut me loose if my numbers aren't w/in the proper boundaries. Since my machine always tracks exactly with theirs it seems like waste of time and money to have to run out there and pay $40 to have them tell me how to adjust my coumadin, so I'm on the learning curve and sure do appreciate the help and suggestions you guys have provided. Besides you all seem like way more fun than my cardiologist!
heartfelt
