That's disappointing Zip :( I'm sure your sugeon has a contigency plan, but it would be nice to know you were getting the newest and the best.

Hang in there... I'm sure it will work itself out.

I can only hope they get their fingers in the phone

and dial me quick, its that i want this over with sooooo bad

i don't care where anymore but it makes you wonder the delay

till spting 2009due to additional floors and improvements.

I well say im shocked, seems like a gigantic waste to leave it

sit empty all that time.To me someones not making the right

decisions i mean the current hospitals in shambles, they could

improve that and on news tonight they announced a new heart center

for Royal Alex for 10 mil so far they have 5mil already.
Like get one thing accomplished at a time here.

Who will staff these new facilities and won't it create a competition
for hiring?? Somehow it feels self defeating you know.

But of course .........what do I know?????????????

Oh well just venting cus waitings a hard thing.

Zipper, have you or your doctor mentioned having oxygen?? it might just alleviate the tiredness and the dizziness . . . . just a thought! Hoping you get to Edmonton real soon, I am sure they won't close the old facility without first opening the new one.

Bina, I think they wouldn't take her in Regina because of her previous OHS and recommended Edmonton, as they are a more "advanced" facility there.

Edmonton is the centre of choice for cardio-thoracic surgery. The new heart centres are both expansions not new construction. The Mazankowsky Institute is primarily for OHS and on-pump procedures. (eta: by new construction I mean a new and totally unsupported facility -- the Institute is a brand new supersized wing attached directly to the northwest side of the existing Health Sciences building)

The DaVinci robot is at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and I'm betting dollars to doughnuts that the Heart Centre extension added there will be for minimally invasive/beating heart robotic surgery.

Both the Walter MacKenzie Health Sciences building and the Royal Alexandra Hospital are teaching hospitals attached to the University of Alberta.

Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Territories are all served by the specialist surgeons and physicians at the University of Alberta. Some doctors serve their patients through direct visits with either the patient making the journey to Edmonton, the doctor holding a visiting specialists' clinic at the community Health Centres or, in extreme circumstances a tele-conference.

Take Heart, the facility may be showing a few wrinkles but the staff and the equipment still remain some of the best available in the world.

oxygen im more into swelling today the sleepiness wore off.

Freddie Royal university just doesn't have equipment to keep me going

Oh Zipper; R.U.H. must have the equipment that's needed. It worked on me.

I hope your doctor at home there decides to phone the emergency dept. in Edmonton and gets your ass down there.

Many thoughts and prayers continue.

We are still in waiting and i am leaving for some of regular

bloodwork and spoke with my Doc on the phone and i will

meet with him monday at 10 am to discuss these issues further

he has made all nessasary calls and thats all we can do. i refuse

to go by ambulance and until we hear from surgeon....i will shut-up
