An update, saw my family Dr. on fri.and he spoke with Edmonton
they say 2 weeks time or sooner i will get my appt. date for
the testings they require there and hopefully if not too urgent
i will have surgery in the early fall if urgent now then surgery will
be done quicker, but time will tell.Alot of swelling now has moved into
my ankles which indicated earlier in Regina it wasnot too bad yet
My dr.on friday states it has moved into ankles worse and the heart
failure part of it needs to be watched more closely if worsens in 2
weeks he will ambulance me there rather than wait if he has to.
So as i said i will eventually be able to then officially be called zipper2:p
Anything changes for sooner i will let you know or Dale can inform
you all (MY HUBBY).

Good to hear things are moving along, Zipper. Hope your appointment goes well and you get good info and are comfortable with the doctors/facility in Edmonton.

Good luck and please keep us up to date.
You know we'll be thinking about you and wishing you well.

Hi Deb,
I'll be in Edmonton for the 13th. We're going to be there for a couple of days. Send me a pm and we can try to arrange something if our times match.
I'm so glad this is moving and now that it's rolling it will get going faster.
Take Heart and I hope to hear from you soon,
Pamela

Deb :

hope things work out well in Edmonton; not sure if I remember correctly, but didn't they say in Regina that you were too complicated for them? Your original valve, it needs changed, right? Did they refer you to Edmonton, or was that your family doctor? He/she seems to have a handle on things, anyway, if he/she is considering getting you ambulanced to Edmonton.

When you go, will you have family or friends with you? I am too far to visit, but my thoughts will certainly be there with you - update us, please, so we don't worry!

Hey there, zipper, I know you've been busy, and probably a little crazy, too, getting ready to get to Edmonton, but how are you doing? I am not nagging, just a tad worried and curious how things are going.

Deb:

Sounds like things are starting to move along.
Keep us posted about everything.
Do your parents plan to be on hand when you have surgery? Sounds like they're slowly getting over the bumps and bruises of their scary car accident.

OMGosh,I haven't heard anything ,
Saw my Dr. a week ago ,he said 2 weeks time i should
hear something for an appointment in edmonton....1 weeks up
now and haven't heard a word. He said if i hadn't heard in 2 weeks
to let him know. Next week i'll be letting him know if i haven't
heard anything yet from Edmonton. I'm doing as expected i think
my mechanicals still not ticking.....no sound:eek: and feels like
absolutely no heartbeat in my heart,i suppose the two echos i
had in june still show the mitral (Native) is leaking profusely.
SOB is bad at times but depending on what i'm doing to cause it to
get worse at times, like stairs and i have a very difficult time.
The swelling is bad and with heart failure the ankles i must watch
constantly, somedays worse than others. Can't push the health
system i always say it's not the surgery that will cause my death,
it's the wait in Canada.I am keeping busy alright with work and all
going on from parents accident, but i must agree im totally wiped
but it keeps my mind off everything till i hear from Edmonton.
Last i heard they were trying to get my surgery papers 16 years ago
from Regina which my cardiologist doesnot have a copy, heart surgeon
from 16 years ago left ages ago to teach and the Plains hosp i had
the surgery at in Regina has closed over 10 years ago now.Netmiff
i didnot get referred by the cardiologist in Regina to Edmonton,my
family Dr. sent all my stuff the 23rd of June when the Regina cardiologist
said i would be better off somewhere, where theres better teams and
better equipment to get me through this 2nd heart surgery. He didn't
think i'd need 2 valves then as the reason the aortic mechanical isn't
ticking is because the mitral is soooooo bad it's not pushing the blood
fast enough through the aortic to click it,so sounds desipated even with
a stetoscope,it can't be heard. The 2 echos in june show it will work fine
after the mitral replacement.:( I pray to god i don't need a double
replacement, but who knows what Edmonton will say and i'm sure this
waiting isn't doing my heart any good at all.
Keep praying and waiting, like me,thats all i can do right now.

Zip, Who did your doctor refer you to? At the risk of sounding pushy I recommend you, personally contact Dr Ted Fenske at Edmonton Cardiology and explain how urgently you need attention.

As soon as they realize the severity of your condition, I'm sure your case will move quickly.

I hope you hear from the folks who can help you.

Take heart,
Pamela.

thanks for the update, I guess I was getting impatient, but not as much as I am sure you are!

While you are there, 2 valves can't be much worse than just one. Just thinking out loud here, but it is still only one scar to heal, a little longer on the machine and under the anaesthetic, but really not a huge difference.

Anyway, take care, happy to hear your parents are doing well, haven't read any other threads, so maybe there's something more about them elsewhere.

Your rite netmiff, and i'm not too stressed out yet
just like to get it over with twice and for all (LOL)
Pam internets been down so just got back up here
and thought i'd better answer these, for it crashes again.
my stuff was all sent to Dr Roderick MacArthur MD.
i'm hoping to move my family Dr. on it if i've not heard by
next week from them.
Thank-you for asking.

Why is it that the more salade i eat,ive binged out on
salade over a week ago and on 51mg of coumadin weekly
my inr is at 1.4 today too low for a couple valves not doing well
at this time My edema has caused 12 lbs over on my morning
scale weight, the imprint of the swelling in my ankles or one ankle
takes alot of time to disappear, chest is tight, breathing difficult,
had to do some (labor) breathing just to get to sleep last night
lol haven't forgotten how to breath with contractions yet at age
47. Notice having hard time getting my work shoes on for the swelling
thats accumulating.Yep my coagucheck machines working fine so the inr
test is good,at 1.4 Iv'e upped warfarin today,not having a problem with
that as far as increasing etc, haven't missed any and in last week actually
2 weeks increased in salades for work and finding inr going down.
Have an appt. at 8am in the morning tomorrow with my Dr. and maybe
after he sees my symptoms worsened he will be ready for edmonton
action I know i am and the headache all weekend has just been unenjoyable
at this point and time it's better but still there, feels like your heads gonna
blow up at times from pain.Im sure tomorrows appt will show some result
for me to get moving with all this (hopefully) but you never know!!!!!
