Hello All! Apparently Lorie will be making a few stops along the way on her drive down to Cedars Sinai for her January 15th surgery. She is leaving Friday.....that's tomorrow! I know we have a lot of well-wishers here and I thought it would be a good idea to get this post up a day ahead so she could take our hopes and wishes along with her! She has not mentioned whether she will be able to give us reports from California.

So, without her knowledge .... I'm taking the liberty of starting this thread!

Good luck, Lorie!!! Wishing you a safe ride all the way through.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers on tuesday!

Warm wishes.

Marguerite

Lorie,

Wishing you a safe journey down to LA. May you come closer and closer to the peace and acceptance you will find on the days before your surgery.

Be sure to take it very easy on yourself, as you are traveling with quite a group, you need to be sure to have quiet time and get lots of rest as it's hard to rest in the hospital! I'll never forget everytime I got ready to hunker down for a little snooze and pull the curtains, some doctor or nurse would poke their head in the curtains for a chat.

You are going to a great hospital with an excellent surgeon and you will do just fine. You have also prepared yourself mentally and emotionally and this will be a big help.

You have been in my prayers, and I will light a candle on Jan. 15th for your successful surgery and recovery. Please keep us posted when you can.

All the best, Betsy

Thanks Marguerite

Thanks Marguerite

Lorie, travel safe! You have my very best wishes that everything will turn out really well for you.
Take care and post again when you can. By the way, you're not taking your Harley down, are you ;) ?

Thanks everyone! I just had a minute to log on here and saw this thread that Marguerite was kind enough to start! I really appreciate all your positive wishes and support. This has been quite a journey and having you all along has certainly made it easier!
My husband and I are leaving first thing in the morning to start the journey south to California and ultimately to healing. It is just the two of us driving down as the rest of the group will be flying in on Monday to include my mother, sister and my oldest daughter. Along the way we are spending the night in Oregon with my dad, then the next night in Sacramento with my best friend since grade school and then the next day arriving in LA.
Last night we had a little farewell dinner with some friends and afterwards went to out to sort of celebrate. We went to a local hangout where some friends who are in a band were playing and practically took the place over. we had such a great time and I was able to spend time with each friend who has become so special to me. It's amazing that at a time like this you really find out who your friends are ~ and God has blessed me with many! It was quite emotional but I had several friends say how my situation has helped them to understand how precious life is and to not taking things for granted and I realized that it truly makes me feel fortunate to be an instrument for others to learn some important life lessons. At any rate, I have such an incredible support network and I know when I come home I will never have to worry about getting rides to doctors appointments or anything else I need!
So, still basking in this feeling of gratitude and instead of worrying about how things will turn out I am trying to put my time and energy into holding positive thoughts about a successful surgery and easy recovery.
Thanks everyone and, Yes, I will be able to update you along the way. We are taking our laptop with us and my husband will be logging on with my name and password and updating everyone. I am making him a list of people to call and things to do once I get through surgery and updating my wonderful support network on VR.com is on the top of the list.

Thanks again!

Wishing you the best!! Be sure to keep us posted. We are thinking about you!!:)

Best wishes Lorie, I'm a bit nervous for you so you don't have to be. :) We're all praying for your successful surgery and recovery. I guess you could say we're in it for the long haul with you! Peace. :)

Lorie,

We will be praying for you. I look forward to work of your smooth recovery.:)

God Bless,

CP

Have a safe trip and good luck with your surgery. Two years ago, I was the one waiting for a January 18 surgery date. I am now fully recoverd and back to teaching first graders, which I love. Also I am 66 years old.
I will be looking for updates.

Lorie,
I will be praying for you next week. You will have this behind you in no time and be on the road to recovery.
