Hi All.
My dad got his INR taken yesterday and I just got the result this morning. It came back at 3.4. This is the highest it's ever been, even though his new range is 2.5-3.5. Ideally, I'd like to get it between 2.5-3.0.
He is currently taking 102.5 mg for the week. I have not talked to the pharmacist yet but I am thinking of decreasing his dose by 10% to 92.5 mg. Does that sound reasonable?
His last INR was 3.1 so we just reduced his dose very slightly (2.5%) but this week, it went up higher.
My dad just started on 2 new medications - Simvastatin for cholesterol and Carvedilol for blood pressure. The pharmacist told me that Simvastatin could increase his INR, so I am thinking that's partly what caused the increase.
Any thoughts, feedback, suggestions are appreciated....as always.
