So my middle name can't be "Cheap Shopper" anymore. ;(
Everytime My husband and I go shopping together he gets upset when I
get the "cage-free" or "free-Roaming" eggs because they are twice the
price of regular grade a eggs. I told him to look at the $2 loss as a charitable
contribution. But still he bought the regular ones when unsupervised.
Then one morning we had a yolkless egg(I even posted on it)and Bina and
others told me it just meant that the chic was probably too young, but ever
since then he has agreed to buy the more expensive ones,so everyboby is
happy--even the chickens(Ithink):)

I will say that I do not eat veal for this reason ... my time and sympathies are taxed as it is and I tend to focus more on human suffering ... I do not think those who are very concerned with animal rights are wrong or that they are not concerned with the suffering of their fellow man ... we all have different priorities and passions .... just think what the world would be like if we didn't.
I like your view,Cooker. I just wish we had the power to actually help or
atleast make a difference. But it does feel good to try anyway:)

Dina, I think every choice we make, makes a difference. I always get local eggs, and frequently "Free Range". I also try to buy organic, though sometimes my budget restricts my choice. What scares me is all the "organic" food coming from China. What the hell have we done, that we have to buy food from China? Anyway, nice thread Bina!

After watching Oprah this was my husband's and my concern. Will our own companies go out of business if this bill were passed? I would prefer to make my choice at the grocery store that would allow them to change how they raise the animals.
