Traveling with my Hemosense-Question

I've loved having my Hemosense this past year and have found it very convenient for traveling. I'll be taking off for Italy in the near future and I plan to take my machine with me. I'd like to pack as compactly as possible and am considering packing my Hemosense (batteries removed) and simply wrapped in something to pad it rather than haul the entire carrying case which is much bulkier. I would keep it in my carry-on luggage. I assume it will be sufficiently protected. Have the rest of you travelers found any unexpected problems with this method?

I have flown with my ProTime 3 in a carry-on bag and had no problems whatsoever. I padded some clothing around the ProTime 3, put the cuvettes in a zip-locking bag w/ blue ice.
