Thanks for the update Noni. I am so pleased to hear he is doing well. I hope you get to visit with him some today. That will probably ease your mind. Take care of yourself and I will be praying for smooth sailing for Stretch.

Stretch should know he's still very much in our thoughts. We know it's not over when they wheel you out of the operating room.

Hope he starts to get more "with it" soon. Everyone's body takes it differently. I'm rootin' for him.

Very best wishes,

Prayers continuing

Prayers continuing

Noni,

Know that we are continuing to pray for Stetch. Everyone here says you can never tell how one will respond to the anesthetic. "Every body is different" is the phrase I hear echoed from everyone.

Hang in there. Try to get some rest. You need rest too!! They will take great care of him and he'll be back to his old chipper self soon.

You are in our prayers too.

Get some rest and do keep us updated as you have time.

David

Forgive me Noni and Stretch for posting this before you got a chance to post here, but I've been worried as I am sure others have been and have been checking the blog daily as well as VR.Com. I was delighted to find this tonight!:D

Stretch is out of the hospital!
After spending one night in the cardiac ICU and five nights in the stepdown unit, Stretch was discharged today!

We're so happy to report that Stretch is no longer confined to a hospital bed now! Instead he's confined to a king size bed resting under a gigantic flat screen tee-vee in our room at the Millenium Hilton in downtown NYC. From our room window on the 39th floor we get to see the Hudson river in the background, NYC skyline in the foreground, and sadly, Ground Zero. It's hard to imagine what was there once...

He's doing fine, but his body is sore and weak. So his job for the next few days (and weeks) is to sleep, eat, walk. We'll see Dr. Stelzer on Wednesday, and if all goes well, we plan to return home on Thursday.

In the mean time, while Stretch was in ICU and stepdown, I developed an upper respiratory infection marked with continuous coughs day and night. Needless to say, it was hard for me to see Stretch as I was very careful NOT to share my germs with him. So armed with a mask and lots of hand sanitizer I came to his hospital room and for a few days could only spend a couple of hours with him and then back to the apartment trying to get some rest. We hope that was all behind us. I still cough a lot, but also taking a number of cough suppressants and antibiotic pills. Tonight will be the test of love "in sickness". Will we be able to share a hotel room?

Stay tuned... :)

Very glad to see the positive update! I had been afraid that no news was not good news...

Thank you Phylis for sharing this good news. I also was wondering and wondering.

Stretch and Noni: So glad to hear that Stretch is out of the hospital. You both take it easy and get well as soon as possible. I hope that Stretch has an easy time of it - you both deserve that right about now. I hope you are able to return home on Thursday and are able to be home for the holidays.
You have my very best wishes and prayers for that!

Take Care!
Susie

Stretch,

Congrats on your release from the hospital. Enjoy your King sized bed. Rest well, breathe, walk, do your arm exercises, and rest some more. So glad to hear that you are out!!!

Keep us posted as you have time and energy.

Noni,
Hope you feel better soon as well.

Talk to y'all soon,
David

stretch -- youre in the lap of luxury...

the millenium is a great hotel. i stayed there once for our anniversary. they are truly awesome tv sets! a little walk away is china town (i recommend shanghai joe's dumplings -- just ask the conceirge (?) -- he sent us there), city hall (with a sculpture park), battery park, the seaport, little italy. in fact, if you do decide you are up for some broadway (which i doubt) there is a half price outlet right by the seaport. best of luck and keep us posted. -- joe

Good news

Good news

Hi Stretch and Noni,
I haven't been on the site for a few days but wanted to chime in with my thoughts of an uneventful recovery. Give yourself time to heal; take it easy.
Warmly,
Sara

Good news that Stretch is out! As for your sharing of diseases, my understanding is that you're most apt to give someone a virus the day before you actually realize you have it. Apparently, after that you provide a lot of dead viruses along with the live ones, allowing those around you to develop their own antibodies.

Best that you stayed away anyway, as there was no point in taking chances.

Still thinking of you both.

Best wishes,
