Yesterday I ran a total of 1.6 miles... 1.1 of it at once at an 8:24/mile average pace. On top of that we tacked on another 4.8 miles of walking. Also, the cardy has cut my beta-blocker dose in half. I was having a little partial syncope when standing up, especially from squatting. I'm a little tired today, but most just sore in my legs. I haven't really put them through any real running work out since my 22:30 5k a week before the surgery.

Wow thats incredible! You are already faster than me! Great job. I have been running 3 miles at about 27 minutes. I have been working so much that I have only been running a few days a week so I'm getting slower again.

Sweet progress. I was having a bit of lightheadedness early on too, especially after squatting up from a coach. These can be shorter if you get your bloodpressure a tiny bit higher before you get up or do lots of movement before and after you stand up to force the blood to move faster to avoid this symptom.

Nice work!!!

I myself love that "I'm sore from running" feeling that I always used to complain about pre-surgery. It does feel good when after surgery you have that "I'm sore from running" feeling - again!!

One step closer to normal!

Keep it up,

Rachel

Update... I walked late last night with a tiny bit of running (about 2 min. total). Then after showering and some couch time, I had a pretty rapid heartbeat. It got up above 100 at rest which bothered me a little. On Sunday, I had cut my beta blocker dose in 1/2 with the doctor's permission/instructions. I decided to go back to the original dose and that calmed my HR back down and I went to sleep just fine.

You have to drop the dosage gradually or your heart rebels. Kind of like withdrawal symptoms.

Ditto. Need to cut a little at a time. Also, post exercise increased heart beat in the post OHS patients is very routine - I speak from experience ;)

Yep, we did that. Cardy said the same thing and suggested cutting dose in 1/2. I was already on the lowest pill size of 3.125. However, I just don't think I was ready for it and in retrospect the almost syncope wasn't that bad in comparison. I'll try again in a month or two.
