Wish me well folk
We're off to Toronto to rally against the destruction of the Ontario countryside by money-hungry promoters of supposedly green windpower with the profits leaving the country.

what's being proposed isn't democracy and may not be legal.

It's time to take a stand and I hope others from Ontario will attend too.

Lance,
I hope you guys have some success.
From what I have read a whole huge field of these turbines only will produce a small amount of power. I also read not long ago they are putting them someplace in Texas.
BUT they are being made in China (what's new) and also installed by the Chinese company.
The green people like Al Gore are only interested in one green thing, and that's the green that fills their pockets.

Briefly this is what happened: Conservativws called for a moratorium on turbines because of several issues, mostly health and local control being taken away by the Clean Energy Bill.
The gallery was cleared and the house recessed when ...................
a Liberal member stood and opined that turbines do not cause health concerns in humans and anyone claiming they do is imagining them, He went on to say he hasn't seen any scientific studies confirming harm (think Silzone). So .............
a person in the gallery stood, addressing the Liberal MP and tore a strip off him. How dare he comment her illnesses are imaginary, she is surrounded by 150 turbines. Security grabbed her arm to escort her away, the rest of us hollered and screamed our support, clapping, stamping, etc. and we were all told to leave, as in NOW. Escorted outside the Legislative building and had to line up for our coats none being allowed in the gallery.

This is a warning to every community everywhere what to expect when turbines are being foisted in your communities. Citizens, in Ontario, have been rendered powerless. Everything that can't be bought is being destroyed, the land, the night sky, birds and bats, wildlife, a quiet country life and peace of mind. Turbines are at best 35% efficient, coal fired facilities are still required and most of the air pollution in S. Ontario comes from the Ohio River Valley anyway. So everyone, Americans as well, be warned of what you'll be facing.
This being the first time in my life I can recall being thrown out of anything and you know what? It feels pretty good.

Come on down here. You can get thrown out of something on a daily basis. :) Heck, you'd be feeling good all the time!

Lance , I'M WITH YOU ALL THE WAY!!!!!! I am familar with this problem. I do feel your frustration.

Good luck!

Lance, I hear you.
My first year living in Ontario and on this farm, we had a nasty surprise. Just down the road a couple of MEGA hog farms
were to be built. We joined a community group to fight this......, educated ourselves, protested, attended meetings,
wrote to newspapers, and appeared on TV. After a couple of years, the hog farms were NOT built, BUT the same farmer
built 2 MEGA chicken factories even closer to us.
So....did we win? :(

If I were you, I'd hold Duffey responsible.

Yes Bina,
You win every time you take a stand on something you believe in regardless of the outcome.
Herr McGuinty's philosophy--To-day Belwood, tomorrow Ontario.
AND
if given the choice I'd take a pig farm/chicken prison any day over industrial wind turbines because there are laws in effect that are upheld governing their activities
unlike turbine providers who are responsible to no-one except their bank accounts and the very slack, shall I say Liberal, set-back requirements.
There are many poultry producers nearby and except for the prison construction haven't caused a problem. We are two properties away from hog prisons without an issue. Ten years ago myself and a neighbour took a stand, influenced others to protest the 1,000 sow operation that was planned. Luckily for all the farmer backed down. Had he built the pig prison he'd be bankrupt now. So we actually did him a favour. His farming operation includes our acreage and we get along just fine.

Hi Ross,
I feel pretty good most of the time. That was extra special though. Remember "Gone With the Wind" when Scarlett's father said land was the only thing worth fighting for because it's the only thing that lasts? I can't stand by and do nothing while beautiful Belwood is destroyed. Yeah, I'm a Southern sympathizer--I think we're called Copperheads. I that correct? Laughing and chuckling here--can't find smilies. Talk to y'all later.

Hi Ross
Burn baby burn Ha Ha that thing's a baby compared to what's proposed for Belwood. This is one time bigger is not better. Invengery Wind Canada is based in Chicago Illinois--Northerners. Someone else from Texas is investing in Ontario wind energy, too.
These turbines are 500' (40-story building assuming 12' floors) with a layback from human habitation--homes of 500', 4 turbines per acre. Your picture shows them further apart. They are supported by a 3-story concrete and rebar foundation 10 feet below the land surface. So should they fall over they won't impact the house next door nor set it on fire I guess. Don't ask about the blades. Mentally challenged bald eagles have flown into the blades committing suicide. I kid you not! Bats's lungs implode and they drown in their own blood.
Five families, sworn to secrecy, have been bought out by a wind company based in Melancton and Amaranth Townships north of here. The presence of turbines--something to do with the sound of the turbine and stray voltage. Turbines produce "dirty" electricity.
Now I'd like to see a 100-acre field with every turbine on fire, black smoke billowing.
This is a very serious situation we have to face. Our LIBERAL, yes, I'm yelling, government has $900 billion allocated to the Green Energy Act that has rendered citizens impotent to oppose them--you know democratic process that's why we were thrown out of the legislature. Our Premier of Ontario, Herr McGuinty, calls this ??????????
Should they come your way--warn your friends.
