Hi All.

My dad may be changing doctors in the next few months so I located a couple of PCPs (internists) for him to interview/meet with. I am just curious what you think are key questions that shoud be asked in an initial meeting. Here are a few I came up with.....

- What is your philosophy on working with patients?
- How much experience do you have with patients who have a mechanical heart valves on coumadin?
- How do you typically work with cardiologists and/or other specialists?
- What do you like about this particular practice/clinic? Dislike?

Any other questions you think are important would be most helpful.

Thanks.
Jennie

Jennie...The first question I would ask is....

How Thorough are you......
Do you take enough interest in a patient to get to the bottom of things?
Are you willing to perform ALL avaliable tests in order to find out what's wrong and/or maintain health of your patient?
Are you willing to fight the insurance companies in order to get your patient the best medical care avaliable?

These are just a few I have come up with, and believe me, the doctors in my area DO NOT live up to these standards and I am now going to Boston to see the Real Deal for Doctors. I hope this helps you immensely. Take Care and best of health to your father. Harrybaby:D  :D

First question: Did you graduate from medical school?;)

Seriously, you all have good questions, but I also really like to go with my gut feeling....
Is this doc arrogant?
Do they let me speak or cut me off?
Will they be accessible for phone calls etc.?
Would I be able to get copies of reports and tests?
