It?s been a while since I?ve been online (if anyone even noticed?tho I know Niki and Chris did ;)) ? and much has happened in 2+ weeks?.

Tuesday, 09/12 and evening of Wednesday, 09/13:
I left work early on Tuesday because of a 100+ degree fever. Then, the next evening, while attempting to catch up on reading my forums after recovering a little bit from being sick, my computer crashed; not sure if it garnered a virus or spyware or was attacked by someone. I?m still looking to either get that computer fixed or buy yet another new one. Currently, I?m using my parents? computer to catch up and post a bit ?. This computer situation is VERY frustrating for me ? my computer is LESS than 2 years old ? the ?down time? has delayed my replies as well as other things (a new trivia game, perhaps; doing some things for the MC section at ChevyTalk.org, etc.). And, of course, I miss ya?ll?.

Saturday, 09/16:
CHD outing in Sandwich IL.

Tuesday, 09/19:
I turned 33.

Thursday, 09/21:
My employment at the annuity call center ended! It was tough saying goodbye to coworkers, but I HAD to get out of that job.

Friday, 09/22:
A few friends (en route to Elkhart Lake WI for the weekend races) from CarNuts.us stopped to see me and my MCs.

Tuesday, 09/26:
For the first time in over 3 weeks, I was able to get my older 4 MCs out in gorgeous sunny weather (70 degree temps) and drove each about 45 miles.

Friday, 09/29 and Saturday, 09/30:
I?ll be in the N Manchester IN area as previously planned for Manchester College?s Homecoming ? and my 10-year college graduation anniversary. Let me know if you?re in the area and want to meet.

Monday, 10/02:
I start my new employment with Weber-Stephen (Weber grills).

OCTOBER 10-17 ROAD TRIP through AR-TX-OK-KS-MO-IA-WI-IL:
This MAY be postponed (and extended a day or 2). I?ll attempt to post more info later.

Also upcoming ? may be able to do my radio show again?.

I?m still looking for a winter beater.

I know I?ve a lot of ?catching up? to do, but it?ll be a while before I?m back online to stay (have to take care of the computer issue). In the meantime, anyone interested in?

?Raceway Woods, Carpentersville IL:
http://www.meadowdaleraceway.homestead.com/

?seeing the movie "Cars"

?Volo Auto Museum, Volo IL:
http://www.volocars.com

?a weekend cruise (along IL RT 20 W ... RT 52 S ... I-80 E ... RT 84 N, back to RT 20; or maybe cruising RT 66 in IL for a little ways)

Welcome back. Like you thought no one would notice??!!??!! You're a fixture around here friend. I was wondering today if you had been ill or went on a trip and decided not to come back, or something. Good luck with your new job and take care.

Cort, what will you be doing for Weber. I have a friend who works for them. Somewhere in IT I believe.

Wise,

A fixture? I don't think I'd go THAT far ... he he he. Thank you for the "welcome back". sadly, I don't know how much I'll be online anymore....

And, Karlynn, I'll be a "web content specialist" (er, I think that's the title) in the Schaumburg office. I'll be gathering info to put on the help websites for the call center reps. Luckily, I will NOT be a call center rep ;).

Welcome back Cort - we did miss you.

Hope your new job is GRRREEEEAAAAATTTTTT!!!!!

*grins*

Thank you, Gina :).

I did see the post about your issues ... thoughts/prayers coming your way....

Hey Cort:

In case you want to attempt fixing your computer more-or-less on your own, I have gotten fabulous free assistance with some pretty nasty problems from this all-volunteer computer technical help website:

http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/index.php

(In fact, I really need to seek help right now for this increasingly slow beast! I'm going to be adding new camera software when it arrives and it will only get worse.:( )

Hey Cort,
Glad to have you back.:)
You know what they say: Everything works out for the Best!
I am sure it will for you also.

PJ,

Thanks for the link ... I'll have to check it out. Sadly, my computer keeps freezing, so it's hard to do much of anything :(.

Dave,

Yeah, I know everything works out for the best ... I keep reminding myself of that ;).

And, Ann, I figured people might think I was on a road trip ... he he! And, thank you :).

Hey, Cort. . .

Hey, Cort. . .

YOU DID IT! ! !

You went out on your own and found that new job. I'm really proud of you, especially since the job is more of a commumications focus and probably more to your strong suit. Really great news. I hope it remains a source of pleasure for you long into the future.

And, thanks for the link to the Meadowdalw site. That is really neat, and maybe one of these days I'll get out there and take a look around again.

Good Job!

Thank you! Yes, you are correct ... it is more to my strengths, so it'll be good. I had applied to W-S about 6 months to a year ago via monster.com, but didn't ultimately get that job. My new boss tells me that I was the one she thought of first when this job came open.....

The only thing I'm "wary" of is the doubling of the commute time. I love to drive, but I HATE "fighting" traffic ... so, we'll see how it goes....

Cool! Maybe we could go as a group!

Thank you ... it really is cool to travel and meet people along the way :).

Yep, you know we missed you.............

Yep, you know we missed you.............

especially when you didn't answer to your birthday thread. :D

Sorry you were under the weather, but so glad to hear about the new job. I hope it is the start of many good things for you. I understand if this interferes with your road trip. Just keep us posted. We can always do it later. Many hugs. J.

Cort, I'm like Janet; when you didn't answer all your birthday well wishes, I figured something was up, but then we had a post that said you had been sighted at a CHD event, so I knew you were ok.

I traveled your way last week--two trips along I-20 and onto I-90. We spent the night in Beloit, but drove straight thru on the way back home.

I'm glad you're starting a new job, and I hope the longer commute turns out to be enjoyable rather than aggravating. I have to admit that I was stunned at the difference in gas prices. We're paying $1.95 a gallon and prices in IL and WI were well above $2.25. It sure makes a difference on an 1800 mile trip!

Wow!! I remember, way back in the olden days - when gas was under $2 / gallon:)

Yep, that we can. But, you know me ... I hate to wait ;). He he he

Just thinking -- is W-S in one of the northwestern burbs? Palatine or something? My office is in Mount Prospect -- maybe we could meet for lunch sometimes?

That would be nice! Yes, W-S has an office in Palatine, but my "home" office is the Schaumburg one ... at the "intersection" of Roselle Rd and I-90....

The benefits of being on multiple message boards and a member of many different groups ... people can find out things much more easily.

Course, in some ways, that might not be a good thing ....

*grins devilishly*

Wait. Hold on a minute here. You were on IL RT 20 AND on I-90 ... and you didn't call me? For shame, my dear Mary.... ;).

But, I don't have all that much room to speak, since I haven't finalized which direction I'll be going down to Arkansas..... That, just like the actual dates of the trip, is up in the air.....

I hope so, too. But, Dad and I did a "test run" Tuesday morning ... 45 minutes to his guestimate of 30 minutes. Aye.

As for the gas prices ... those don't bother me at all ;).

Now Cort,
I told you I was going to be up your way almost a month ago. I asked if you could join us for dinner, and you said you wouldn't be able to. Remember?
