The title is somewhat optimistic. There is no such thing as an "Implantable INR Monitoring Sensor" at present.

However, the idea of an implantable glucose monitor for diabetics is being researched, and might become reality in a few years. So why not an implantable INR monitor? A device that could be implanted somewhere on the body that would sense your INR and provide a readout, so that a blood draw would be unnecessary. At any rate maybe some researcher might read this post and get the idea and maybe something might start happening.

There's a lot of folks out there taking Warfarin that need their INRs checked on a regular basis, and that translates to money, for whichever company is able to develop and market the device. Sure would save time and trouble related to the present process of having to have a blood draw, either through vein stick or finger stick.

FYI, here's a few websites that show progress on implantable glucose monitors (for more just Google "implantable glucose monitor" or "implantable glucose sensor"):

Its a nice thought, but then again on the other hand, some of us have other mechanical stuff in our bodies....would we really want anymore devices implanted? JMHO
