Hello everyone:
I thought I would post, and let all of you know, that the heart surgery my husband needs, has been scheduled, for a third time, for February 14th.
He currently has two St. Jude valves, aortic and mitral, implanted a bit over 5 years ago. He is having his tricuspid valve repaired (we hope, and not replaced)via annuloplasty on Wednesday, Valentine's Day. After a few days, he will have the much needed pacemaker installed. If they have to replace his tricuspid valve, which we sincerely hope is NOT the case, then the pacemaker device will have to be implanted in his stomach. They have scheduled every test known to man.....caratid arteries, blood work, chest x-ray, heart cath, 64 slice CT scan, neurologist appt., the list goes on. He is scheduled for testing on Monday and Tuesday, with the heart cath the Wednesday morning, and the surgery in the afternoon. Three or four days later, the pacemaker.
His surgeon has assured us that this surgery is not as technically difficult as the first, and seems confident that since he is a young man (60 !!), he will benefit from having this done.
Our family has had a difficult year. Please include us in your prayers next week.
