Hello everyone:

I thought I would post, and let all of you know, that the heart surgery my husband needs, has been scheduled, for a third time, for February 14th.

He currently has two St. Jude valves, aortic and mitral, implanted a bit over 5 years ago. He is having his tricuspid valve repaired (we hope, and not replaced)via annuloplasty on Wednesday, Valentine's Day. After a few days, he will have the much needed pacemaker installed. If they have to replace his tricuspid valve, which we sincerely hope is NOT the case, then the pacemaker device will have to be implanted in his stomach. They have scheduled every test known to man.....caratid arteries, blood work, chest x-ray, heart cath, 64 slice CT scan, neurologist appt., the list goes on. He is scheduled for testing on Monday and Tuesday, with the heart cath the Wednesday morning, and the surgery in the afternoon. Three or four days later, the pacemaker.

His surgeon has assured us that this surgery is not as technically difficult as the first, and seems confident that since he is a young man (60 !!), he will benefit from having this done.

Our family has had a difficult year. Please include us in your prayers next week.

You both will be in my prayers. What a big day. I know it will go well.

Well, Marybeth, I cannot think of a better day to have heart surgery than Valentine's day. That has to be good fortune.

I will pray for your whole family from now until we hear that all is well.

Godspeed.

Mary Beth,
I think Geebee's got the right idea . . . February 14 is a good day to have heart surgery.
You will be in my prayers.

Sending prayers your way that all goes well and hope you have a "little" time to update us. Best wishes to you both.

Am thinking of you both and sending prayers your way. Since I'll probably be "out of it" on the 14th (surgery scheduled for 2/13), I'll say my prayers for you between now and then. Good luck to you both.

Hi Mb,
I have mechanical aortic and mitral valves and a bovine tricuspid valve and I feel great. Hopefully they will only have to repair your husband's valve so that the pacemaker can be placed properly. I am 41, that is why they just replaced my valve while they were in there fixing the other two. I don't have a pacemaker. I have no limitations except contact sports, but I won't be playing for NE Patriots anytime soon!! Hope surgery is a success and look forward to chatting with another triple valve person soon. :)

Thank you all, for your kind wishes and thoughts. The past months have been difficult. We lost our eldest daughter last July, and our youngest daughter had a baby in December, who has since been hospitalized twice. The baby is doing fine now, but it was scarey for awhile.

We are both confident in the doctors and hospital. They are doing two days of tests, prior to the surgery on Wednesday. God bless them, they seem to be taking extra care.

Cherbam, my husband, unlike you, does continue to have heart issues, but his surgery was done perhaps later than it should have been, and this third valve probably should have also been repaired or replaced when his first surgery was done 5 years ago. He now has chronic a-fib, heart rate pauses, significant PVC's, etc. He also is 60 now. I noticed your surgery was in Boston as well. What doctors/hospital?

Hi Marybeth,
My though and prayers go out to you, your husband and family.
