Hello all,

I am 5 months post-op next week and have recently noticed that my heart rate jumps up about 10-20 bpm when laying down (I've measured with my BP monitors). My blood pressure stays within normal range always though.

Has anyone else experienced this? What could it be?

I can feel each beat when I'm on my sides. However, when I stand or do my daily activities, I don't feel the jump in my heart rate, as I do when laying down.

When I left the hospital after my surgery, I was on 50mg Atenlol 2x per day. After 2 weeks, we lowered the dosage to 25mg 2x per day. Lately, my heart rate has been scaring me, so I have gone back up to 50mg 2x per day. Thoughts?

Thanks and God bless!

Talk to cardio about concern. 5 months is still early on in recovery. Things will settle even more after 1st year. Again respect the "symptom" and get it checked out. I had all kinds of funky rhythms and sensations the first year after surgery.
