2 weeks before my surgery I asked for a low dose of Ativan to have "on hand" in case I freaked out. I never needed it, but felt better just having it in my purse.
My surgery was very early in the morning and I remember nothing. Good drugs.
When I woke up a day later, the neck line was gone, and so was the vent tube.

Valerie, I had my AVR on Friday, Feb. 13 and told my husband I deserved a really great Valentine's gift also. So, in my opinion Friday the 13th is a good day. I was totally out by the time I got to the door of the pre-op area so don't remember a minute of the oper. room. Then I slept from Friday until Monday afternoon so also have no recollection of tubes, wires, etc. But when I finally did wake up I had a heck of a time keeping track of what day it was for about a week. All this passes, but do allow yourself time for recovery because it takes a while.

Keep smiling and have a soft, safe landing. Lots of prayers and good vibes will be coming you way.

Midge
