First echo and questions........

Hello all-

Today is my first echo and I can't wait! I had the surgery 01/30/12 and had a St. Jude ring on my mitral valve. Can you see the ring on the echo? I don't know if it's normal to have an echo so soon but I kinda insisted on one to calm any anxiety and to see my heart.

What was your first echo after OHS like and how did you feel?

Hi, Laura, after surgery, my first Echo was six months later. I could clearly see the tissue leaflets of my new valve opening wide as my heart beat. I would be surprised if your ring was not in the image. As the echocardiogram was conducted, I could easily hear that my valve no longer made the loud noises it did before surgery and the colors of the doppler shift showed much less turbulence. It is nice to actually see my heart working better although it only confirmed what I already felt.
