I was at the book store (Borders) yesterday, and was thumbing through the "Top Doctors" book published by these guys:

It listed and profiled top heart surgeons and cardiac care centers throughout the US (as well as other specialties).
The web site describes the methodology used to perform the ranking. BTW, I visited an Internet physician forum in which this methodology was criticized as flawed...dunno if it really IS flawed or if it was just "sour grapes."
Anyway, for what it's worth. Thought this might be useful as one more point of reference for those trying to select doctors and hospitals.
