A new week of Fun With Pounds weigh-ins is OPEN. Superbob has a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so he will coordinate his weighing in with that and see if he agrees with the doctor (subtracting for clothes).

Meanwhile, Superbob has a decision to make about surgery. No, not heart surgery, at least not yet. (Getting 6-month echos now for that possibility.) Eye surgery, in this case. A retina specialist has found that SB has something called retinal or macular pucker, which basically means a silver of scar tissue that limits vision in one eye. You would not think a chap with laser vision would have such a problem, but yes this is an aging superhero and he seems to have a whole catalogue of medical maladies. Have to decide if want an eye surgeon going in and peeling the scar tissue off the retina. The thought is more iccky than heart surgery, but anyway.....

Hope as many Throwdowners as we may still have will be weighing in in next few days. Good luck.

The laser retinal surgery is scary but they can do so much ... I know two people who have had great success with similar surgeries ... as for my weight I will report tomorrow ... I'm down but hoping for another half pound before I make an official announcement :biggrin2:

This was not the appropriate place for me to post about eye surgery. The founder of the Throwdown or someone else ought to repost a new weekly thread and keep it going. I am no longer participating.

Superbob, I hope you're able to come a decision you're comfortable with about your possible eye surgery. That would definitely be a delicate surgery.

Not participating? Now that is not approved! Of course, I have no authority, but still I would say no if I did.

I'm hoping to make it below the 170 mark this week. We'll see!

Oh good gravy. Superbob knows exactly what to say to make the REF come out of hiding.:mad2:

Ok, back to today's weigh-in and the reason I'm posting this morning . . . . I am down one pound from last week, but I expect that to change due to circumstances beyond my control.:confused2:
The circumstances are . . . . a new supply of Naked Chips will be in my possession as soon as I go to the grocery store. Yay!:biggrin2:

Bob, regarding your surgery decision, do what you feel you should do. We'll support you either way, anyway, both ways, sideways, anchors away, throwdown weigh, what have ya!

Huh? After your 5 years and over 5,000 posts on VR, you can dang well post whatever/wherever you want ! (well, almost) ;)
Now, regarding your decision on eye surgery:
is there sufficient lack of vision to warrant this procedure?
is this scar tissue likely to progress or cause possible problems in the future?
Take some time and think about it, catch your breath, and know that whatever you decide to do, we will support you. :) :)
(a few years back I had an ulcer on my eyeball (!) and I found the most amazing opthalmologist, she could do literally anything to my eyeball and I never felt or noticed a thing).

Well I don't understand what you are talking about:confused2: ... are you quiting the Throwdown? ... forgoing eye surgery? ... Clarification is required ... as far as what can be discussed here by Throwdown members it is unlimited by proclamation of the founder, TheChimp ... we all need sabbaticals, I did and now have got my priorities in place ... taking farm town off my plate and giving my time to this forum and one other I moderate .... rest whenever needed, quit- never....

Unless otherwise notified ThChimp will assume SB has been absconded by beach beauties and therefor unable to carry on The ThrowDown (understandable) ... as founder and hairiest goomer here I will retake the controls and keep the ball rolling ... please send any extra bananas as my plantation as been sold...

Found out I have to be at work early in the morning so I will post todays weight ... down one pound ... wishing all good results!!!

Starting Weight: 233
Last Week: 200
This Week: 199

Chimpersize: 1. Peeling as many bananas as you can, as fast as you can 2. The diminutive size of this simian 3. An alternative to "supersize" on fast food restaurant menus 4. An exercise penalty inflicted by Cooker of the famed Cooker's Throwdown for failure to report weigh-in results.

Cindy and I will report in tomorrow after the WW meeting. It just occurred to me that WW is sort of like AA, except we're all food drunks. So these two food drunks will weigh then and let the pounds fall where they may (or may not).

Superbob, I have a question. I'm curious about the retinal/macular pucker. I'm wondering if that is similar to a retinal detachment, without it being a permanent attachment of course. I had a retinal detachment which reattached itself. I don't know when this was (strange, I know) but I've seen pictures of it at my eye doctor's office over the years. The area where the retina reattached is all scarring tissue. I have an imperceptible limitation in my peripheral vision (right eye); I wouldn't know it if they didn't tell me. I came a fraction of an inch away from losing the vision in that eye; the scarring is just short of the main field of vision. So, that's why I'm curious. I understand why it's something you have to think about, with the delicate nature of the retina. Is there a chance the scarring would "grow" (not sure if that's possible)?

I've been a bad girl all week, or maybe for 2 weeks now. I'm stress eating. Pushed the I Don't Give A Shirt button.

Up to 134.4 this morning, after mexican food (read "salt") for lunch yesterday. I've really got to get back on the wagon, but with a surgeon's appointment next Tuesday, and a job where everything seems to be a priority/rush/urgent right now, that doesn't seem likely. Need to lose 4-5 lbs.

P.S., We love you SB.

Looking forward to hear your results ... let me know if you want the "Chimpersize" DVD ... only $19.95 plus shipping and handling:biggrin2:
