Appointment done (to go again)

Well long story short i went to Edmonton short notice for Dec 4th
had an ultra sound done on my 2 valves and looks like aortic mech
as i said before could of been changed in Jan when my mitral was done

Due to 17 years of wear @ tear i may need it done another ultra sound
scheduled for Jan 11th ......So pray the decision then will be made to
change out or keep this 17 year old valve till it totally wont run anymore

Im feeling good and have more energy than ive ever had,even hubby
would like to steal some of my energy,so having the mitral surgery
and going through 2nd surgery has proved to be a bonus on my part
after all,i have bouts of sob but that of course is the arotic slowly
acting up.
I really can't wait for a 3rd time to fight the train,but if i have to then
i have to but it wouldnt have been much fun to have it done in Jan
if the high risk factors for me then didnt mean death

Im told i am just a seperable valve replacement person,seperate surgery
seperate valves 1 by 1 at a time.
So we will see what this great Lord has in store for me in 2010 and i really
wanna stress no matter how many surgerys you have be 1 ,2 ,3 or 4 the
anxiety level,the fear,your mind rolling after a 1st surgery you just did
this and a 2nd surgery youd be a pro but let me tell you all no matter
how many times you did it,the wait each time is worse in all of the whole
open heart scenerio i just did this and im waiting again it dosent matter if
u had surgery 30 yrs ago and again within 30 yrs or 10 yrs or 1 yr
were all human and the same wait @ fear happens no matter the time
frame and thats were god comes in @ takes it all away,or you drive your
self silly worrying
Anyhow keep me in your prayers for Jan 11 now and i do have an
ultrasound for different things tues ,but ive totally reframed from that
one as too much swine flu for hosp staff our hospitals a walking swine
flu bomb and i get my h1n1 monday here ..AHHHH at last


I may as well add here ive been away alot to post,however reading is
my aim and i do get it done and keeping you all at levels of prayer
Tonight saw alot of posts @ people i wondered bout so answered few
and felt id add how my ultrasound in Edmonton went seeing im posting
My parents and work and my mom finding out she has great problems
with thiroid and some lumps need removed and doc wants her off warfarin
a week prior im fighting this and its not going to happen in my life
time or hers (off warfarin) so were almost there with a new doc in Regina
but they need to cut a 14centimeter lump out and almost ready to get
this done while on warfarin,i tell you im so busy lately and then my cardio
office called outta the blue for me and i had to go get this done or my
neck on the line too so to speak....But im here Honest reading most the
time
With a possible 3rd surgery i wanna be as close to you all as i can be
Vr never changes during surgery someones always here i know what
it was like in 92 without it i never wanna experience that again thank-you
for being here my 2nd time everyone and if be 3rd Thanks Ross @Hank

Deb, I'm so sorry that you may be looking at another surgery so soon. I can't help but ask if you aren't angry that they didn't take care of that aortic valve while they were in there if there was any question about the life of it. You are a bigger person than me because I would be furious. But, as usual, you seem to have a great outlook and a fantastic spirit.

Fingers crossed for you that now is not the time for this to be done. Please keep us posted and don't be a stranger.

oh, Deb, not again ! Yeah, I'd be mad as a barn cat if they could have switched that valve while they were in there; only thing I can think of is that the surgeon thought it would straighten itself out after removing all the scar tissue.

Hang in there, we're here - I've not been on much either, but you can always e-mail me if you need to vent!

Deb..... So sorry for all this stress on you and so hope you do not have to go through the surgery again. You are so correct that the anxiety and stress in the waiting room is no easier for re-do surgeries. It does not get easier just because you have done it before.

When I met with my surgeon prior to my second OHS, I said to him "The good part is I have a good idea what to expect. The bad part is I have a good idea what to expect."

He agreed.

IF you have to go through it again, we all are here to help you through it and anyone/everyone in that situation.

Oh my, you went through h*** leading up to the last time, why did they not 'change it out' back in January? Was it not leaking or did they feel the mitral was causing the issue with the aortic?

I can totally relate to your post Deb. You're absolutely right when you say that the fear & anxiety level is just as high if you're going thru the 1st OHS or the 4th! And I too wonder WHY for Pete's sake didn't they replace my other old valve when they were in there 3 years ago. That has never made sense to me!

But God is so awesome & who knows, maybe when January rolls around, things may look better & your anticipated surgery will not have to be.

Not wanting to take away from your post or anything, but only to show you how wonderful the Lord can be......I went for an Echo just yesterday & my PH pressures had fallen from 65 to 46!!! And the right side of my heart was not as enlarged any longer! Can you believe that!!!!??? So you see, the Lord is always watching over us & he's the only one that has control of everything!!

Yeah Louise every time i sighned on after surgery i was putting zipper#3 lol
Wonder if that was my sign then haha

Oh well glad im not the only one shocked bout this,I was prepared in June
and my cardio told me then that it may have to be replaced and that the
surgeon had me already in surgery as he looked for backup on his best
decision to replace both,i at the time had no cardio do to mine moving
upon the time before my surgery and my cardio now wasnot assigned to
me yet nor had any backup knowledge of my history etc.

So who did the decision making on me do you all think? Yes the 1st
surgeon who got hit by car and couldnt do my surgery when all got
postponed cus he ended in surgery with his leg.
Yup Norma that was already God working in his mysterious ways and i
really do believe what you are saying and Norma i'm so happy for you
thats too awesome and i have no dought there is a plan better than
we as humans could arrive with.

Some of you asked if im angry...no i did vent in june when i first found
out i visited Dr (LEG) so to speak and i got my vent out upon him making
a life decision and why he didnot allow that to go ahead then,who was he
under pain meds in a hospital bed then doped up to make such a decision

We dont know what would have happened say my great surgeon and
my cardio today that i respect with all i have,but they both say it would
likely been the wrong decision to proceed,my risk factors still are high
for 3rd surgery and remember the initial surgeon who had leg accident
told me in the beginning in Sept of my cath as i begged him then to do
both valves,he said no he wouldnt fix something not broke and if i did l
need 3rd surgery in life he wouldnt cus he wasnot able to deal with so
much scar tissue,it would be a different surgeon.
Well maybe theres a reason this happened toothe way it has
but no im not angry,,just scared at times cus of the human part of me
i guess So we'll wait @ see what January saysI cant change things
and worry is a waste and your all here to help me through which ever
way it goes and my family here is going no where,i have alot to be
happy for and God isnt gonna dump me either yet no matter which
way it goeslol
