St. Jude Regent AV user satisfaction

Al Cap, not sure if you were askign me but my valve p/n is 23AJ-501 and per the St. Jude catalog is the Master Series. Anybody looking forward to the "new" drug to replace warfarin? Apprehensive? Have not heard much about it. I've got a friend that works for St. Jude and gave me some info on...

    Warfarin - Weight Gain?

I am taking 25mg of metoprolol daily. It does slow down my rate. Would that make me feel less active as well? I'm typically "wide open" and after a year post op, I'd think that I'd be able to have much better energy with the new valve but just not happening.

St. Jude Regent AV user satisfaction

I've got a St. Jude 23mm aortic. Installed 12/29/2009. I hear it always. I'm a light sleeper anyway. Wish it was quieter. No bleeding or cause for concern. Better energy that what I had but still not what I'd like.

    Warfarin - Weight Gain?

Had aortic valve replaced a year ago and have gained 20lbs or so. I'm trying to watch what I eat and am walking 2-3 miles 3 times a week. I don't want to blame it all on Warfarin, but is/does Warfarin cause weight gain?

St Jude Mechanical valves: Are there different models?

I've got a St. Jude mechanical and fly at least 2-3 times a month. Never been an issue. They don't even know it's there.

    Metropolol ween down.

Im on 25mg a day (slow release) and would like to get off of it. Im almost 6 months out from surgery and got off of it at 3 months but my rate was back up again after 1 day after I weaned it down to 12.5 for a week. I'll do the same thing a couple of weeks from my next cardio visit (3 months)...

    Qas experience anyone?

Finally got a call back from QAS this week (10 weeks in) and they've evidently been given the go ahead to "offer" the machine. One small issue is that it will not be covered in full. They want $600.00 of which they'll be glad to spread out payments of $200.00 per month over 3 months to get it...

    36-hours Post-Op As I Write This

Good job. Give yourself time to heal. You'll have rough days but for the most part it's great that we have the opportunity to actually have these things "fixed".

    Qas experience anyone?

I'm over 6 weeks into it with QAS. Forms sent and per QAS they have everything they need. Got a call while on a business trip last week and the rep told me that BCBS of AL has "issues" with paying for home monitoring if billed from there CA office. So, she was going to have their Florida office...

    Qas experience anyone?

I got on their website, requested info on home monitoring. Received a brochure a week or so later. It asked for you to fill out and mail in or fax back. I faxed and mailed just to be sure. I called got a real person a couple of weeks later as I'd heard nothing from them. She told me she needed...

    Having surgery soon!!! **HELP**

Tony, Welcome!! I had a minimally invasive AVR (St. Jude) on 12/29/09, so I'm less than 3 months out now. I have about a 5" vertical scar and a smaller one (1.5") toward the bottom (drainage). I had pain for about 3-4 weeks. Couldn't sleep on my side for 5-6 weeks. A recliner will be good for...

    Dropping Some Meds !!!

I'm 27 days into a new St. Jude valve and was prescribed Amiodarone for A-fib. I've got a 30 day supply so I'll be off of it in less than a week. I'm looking forward to just be on the Coumadin. I hope that will allow me to sleep better when off of it. Kurt AVR - St. Jude (minimally invasive)...

    Mini-sternotomy avr

I had a mini 4 weeks ago. I don't have anything to compare it to, but mine was no walk in the park. Enough pain for me, I can tell ya that. Still on pain pills and just now starting to be able to sleep on my side. Incision looks fine even though a couple of stitches were not gotten out. Gotta...

    Can't get in range.

James, I'm going thru the same thing as we speak. I'm on my 4th week of rehab and when I left the hospital, my INR was at 1.6. They increased it and 5 days later when I had it checked, it was 2.3. They upped it again to 5mg (MWF) and 7.5 every other day and it was 4.3 last Friday. Now I'm on...
