A week after surgery Ian was rushed to the hospital in A fib...His body was able to correct itself to normal rhythms after a few hours but.... he is so weak and pale his hemoglobin is way low... 82 ...so they discovered and internal bleed around his heart ...this was causing his heart distress so they put a catheter into the pericardia and drained almost 3/4 of a litre of blood....But now he feels a lot better but is still draining....hopefully the reason he is bleeding will heal itself....I am hopeful it is, because his hemoglobin is getting a bit better its at 87 now....he still might need a blood transfusion tomorrow...I am so worried but the nurses and doctors all say this is quite common following surgery of this type and using anti- coagulants and all..He is in the CCU and he is all hooked up to bells and whistles again... he is getting quite discouraged and scared and sad...and he is worried he is causing me pain and worry..I just want him to feel good...hope tomorrow is a good day....

I will pray for you and Ian, I'm sure this is the last place you want to be right now!! They will take good care of him, but it is still very stressful time.
Take care and keep us posted Debbie :)

I'm sorry this happened but it is "quite normal", I guess .... It happened to me and I did have to go in for three pints to top me off ..... I'm sure he will be fine .... It is a bit of a scare and very draining ... all the best:)

Sorry to hear Ian is having problems. Tell him to hang in there, it will get better.

Ian having not been thru surgery yet all I can say is hang in there and things will start to settle down. You are in are prayers.

Hope Ian is on the mend again. He has had a bump or two more than his share. The things that are 'common problems' to the medical people are very scary for those of us who don't experience them commonly. But at least those common problems are the ones they are used to solving:).

I'm sorry Ian hit this road block. I know even tho it is pretty common, when it is you or one you love it is very scarey. Justin had this happen after his surgery when he was a toddler, so I can imagine how you feel. Hopefully things are on the mend. and everyone is feeling better soon

Sorry to read about Ian's setback:(
Good thoughts and prayers.........continue.
Please update when able.
