Hi all,

Just back from my second opinion. And I have my surgery on the calendar! March 16. Going i to replace aortic root and arch aneurysm and do their beat to salvage my still decent BCV. It it isn't in great shape I'll be going with the cow ... moo. Such a relief to have it down and be able to prepare. Went last week and got some sleeping/anxiety pills that are helping as well.:)

Glad to hear you've made your choice and are comfortable with it. Feels better eh ?

I took Xanax leading up the the surgery, couldn't sleep a lick, it also helped with some of the anxiousness. The wait is by far worse than the event itself, at least in my opinion. Given your age I suspect that your going to bounce back pretty quickly. Within 4 weeks your going to think you can get back to normal life but don't push too hard. I went back to work after 5 weeks and sure enough it was too much too soon and I ended up home for a few days in week 6. But by week 7 I was back at work doing 45 hrs (desk job).

best of luck !

Isn't the 16th a wonderful day? :D My valversary is June 16th, and Superbob's is Feb. 16... as far as I know with valversaries on the 16ths.

Best wishes as you approach the first day of the rest of your (better) life!

Cheryl,
I'm glad to read that you've got your date. I've put you on the calendar, so it's VR.com official!

Thanks all! I met with the head honcho Dr McCarthy today and told him all about VR.com. Also about Ross having him as a surgeon. He was really interested and was telling one of his assistants to check it out so he could refer it to other patients.

Cheryl,
Isn't it nice to finally have a solid goal to work toward. I hope the time passes for you quickly and try not to fret over anything. Pretty soon as this will be a thing of the past and you shall feel so much better. Best wishes:)
